Now that we're out of Iraq......

This week it was reported that 100 people were killed in what is being called an "organized massacre" in a Syrian village. My question is Who Are These People behind the violence against the Syrian government and where are they coming from?

American media is portraying the Syrian government as being the bad guy in all of it. I don't necessarily believe it. The so-called Arab League and the Obama White House would have us believe that Syrian President Assad is evil and "regime change" must come about there. I say, leave him fight his own battles. Afterall, now that we're out of Iraq, Syria, Lebanon and Jordan will now have Muslim fighters in their countries fighting their governments.

We might also consider praying for Christians in these nations.

"A Bright Shining Lie"

Before I give you my take on events, let me assure readers that I am 5th generation American, maternal and 3rd Generation paternal - all from Ireland. My family has served this nation in every war since the War Between the States. I served two years here and overseas in the U.S. Army and two years active reserve. I am honorably discharged. And over 200 of our surname we're at Valley Forge.

I grew up with Democratic roots before the party went Left. I took the bait, hook, line and sinker. I was a youngster when President Eisenhower said "beware the military-industrial complex" I later read it but didn't really understand exactly what he was talking about. Since then I've witnessed American involvement everywhere, e.g., Korea, Vietnam, Panama, Iraq, et al. I now have come to believe that the financial interests behind defense spending does NOT have the interests of America in mind. We're going to fund war somewhere else after our current wars are conducted. We have betrayed our doughboys of WWI who fought "the war to end all wars."

Oh, yes, I'm for a strong defense....but for here at home, not in Afghanistan, South America, Israel and everywhere else we can think of creating conflict or allegedly defending a country in the name of liberty, democracy and freedom. As the late LTC John Paul Vann had advanced in Neil Sheehan's book about him titled, "A Bright Shining Lie", we're being hoodwinked.

We're pulling out of Iraq but staying in Afghanistan. Afghanistan? What the hell are we doing there. We don't need them; they don't need us! Yet we're being told that we need to be there for the Afghan people. They're TRIBAL! Yet they would have us believe that we need to give them troops, guns and money. We're being hoodwinked.

The Irish diaspora throughout the world has a quote for the long overdue need for England to completely remove themselves from Ireland - 'TIME TO GO!' It now applies to our military presence everywhere but within our borders. If we can accomplish that, industry and investment will return. It can happen, as long as we don't allow ourselves to continue to be deceived by the foreign policy being crafted by our Department of State.

Taking One at Face Value

I've met the guy on more than one occasion. He's likable in person. But when it comes to his politics - sheesh!

This former Democrat is speaking about Ohio Senator Sherrod Brown (D).I've always thought he disguised his liberalism quite well. He's for veterans. Can't be a bad guy then, huh?

Most recently, in response to the bums that are being called "Occupiers" his campaign website quotes him saying "It's time to fight back!) He asks you to stand with him as he fights for working families. Fine, stand with them Senator but just what the hell do these people have to do with the working class?

They have defecated and urinated on NYPD cruisers and spat on officers. Now the Congressman is smart enough not to reference these specific acts, or, as the Cleveland Plain Dealer is all to eager to point out, is he in any of the pictures of these acts. But he HAS said, per the Plain Dealer, "T think the energy coming out of the Wall Street protesters is always a good thing."

I sure hope ALL voters and workers take into consideration the party that Brown represents. Look around you and understand what is going on. Or else, as the Bugs Bunny cartoons used to end with, "That's All Folks!"

How Should We See Each Other or the Double-Edged Sword of Hyphenated-Americanism

Living in Cleveland, Ohio, our town has been called Ethnicity - ETHNIC CITY. We grew up here with large enclaves of Poles, Hungarians, Irish et al. It has given me an appreciation of the various cultures and the friends I have always made among them. In the case of what I see as Mexicans in America, it appears to be a different story - unless our major media outlets are attempting to divide us.

I relate to the case of American High School boys at Live Oak High School in Morgan Hill, California. They wore American flags and/or colors to school on Cinco de Mayo, May 5th. It is a day celebrated for differing reasons, depending on where you reside.

In the U.S. it is a day when those of Mexican heritage celebrate their pride. At least that what's it's supposed to be. The actual day of celebration marks Mexico's unlikely victory over French forces at the battle of Puebla on that date in 1862.

The boys were sent home from school for wearing the American red, white and blue colors while those of Mexican heritage, wearing displays of their Mexican heritage, were not. And now a Judge has ruled in favor of the school authorities.

I have seen ethnic pride here in northeast Ohio. Those of Irish heritage celebrate St. Patrick's Day even though many of those partying are unaware of where in Ireland their ancestors came from or even know exactly who came over. The exceptions however, like many southern Irish I have met, ALWAYS know they are of Irish heritage.

Those of Italian heritage celebrate Columbus Day with a parade and a day in which their display their Italian pride. There is a Polish Legion of American veterans, Jewish War Veterans, Catholic War Veterans, Italian War Veterans and Irish American War Veterans to name but a few ethnic-related groups. The other ethnic groups are too numerous to mention.

My point here is celebrating your ancestry is a good thing. Retired Ohio Senator George Voinovich said he has always found that those close to their ethnic heritage have been the best citizens. What is not acceptable, through my eye, is the what appears to be the wrongheaded views of both the American boys and the Mexican-Americans.

I think the difference is what comes first in their lives. In Cleveland I believe I can speak for the many hyphenated-Americans by saying their identity, before anything else, is American. If I can believe our mainstream media, that is NOT the case with those of Mexican descent in California.

I don't fear someone celebrating their heritage. I do fear if they are not American first. If the latter is the case at Live Oak High School and elsewhere, they are dangerous. I would hope that both sides see Cinco de Mayo through the same eye - as a simple day of celebration and happiness.

On St. Patrick's Day last year a TV host interviewed a young girl at the downtown parade. When asked what she liked best about the day she simply replied, "All the people smiling." And that should also be the spirit of Cinco de Mayo.

Rocky Colavito's Foul Ball

As a youngster, our father introduced my brother Rodger (Red) and me to sports. We were already young fans before most kids knew who the Cleveland Browns or Indians were. In those days it didn’t cost an arm and a leg to buy a ticket. Red and I always got the cheap tickets to get in and them moved around to find better, unoccupied seats. And we roamed Cleveland Municipal Stadium at will, learning every nook and cranny.

Sitting in Right Field one day with our friend Jerry Szabo, we watched as Cleveland Indian right fielder Rocky Colavito came up to bat. He swung at the first pitch and we saw it fly upwards behind him and onto the stadium roof. I was immediately inspired.

“Rodger, I know how to get on the stadium roof. Let’s go get the ball!” Red didn’t take much coaxing after he learned I really did know how to get onto the stadium roof. I had previously seen the ladders that led to hatches to the roof in highest echelon of the upper deck seats. Sometimes they were open, sometimes closed. Szabo, citing discretion being the better part of valor, opted to stay where he was. Red and I took off.
In the Right Field upper deck we saw an open hatch. Climbing up and through the opening we gained access to the roof. Like Marines landing at Iwo Jima, we immediately began to sprint in the direction of home plate. Quickly arriving behind the plate, we spotted the baseball, about a foot from the edge. Red crawled over and picked up the ball. We immediately began our return sprint back to right field.

Red was always the better athlete of the two of us. About halfway there I got a pain in my side from running and yelled that I had to stop. He got upset at me and kept running. When I pleaded, he stopped, looking at me in a disgusted fashion. He must’ve had a vision because as we walked past another open hatch a Cleveland Police Officer stuck his head through it and yelled, “Hey, you two, Come here.”

Hindsight, they say, is 20-20. What we had done was calmly surrender to the policeman. What we should’ve done is run like bats-out-of-hell. Now, come on, what cop can catch a couple of young teenagers who are running for their lives? And we also should’ve looked for an open hatch that was closer to the home plate area!

We were taken to the Stadium Security Office where we knew we were in deep doo-doo. We let it be known that our father was also a Cleveland Police Officer, figuring we might get a reduced sentence. They called him and I imagine dad’s response, after hearing a description of our antics that day, said something to the effect of, “Send those two idiots home!”

By this time it was late in the game, when the entry gates became unattended. Although we were booted out of the stadium, we went to another gate and re-entered. We found Szabo where we left him in Right Field, wondering if we were ever going to come back.

I’m sure Dad silently contemplated which head doctor he should send his sons to. When we got home he read us the riot act, of course. But we didn’t suffer any just consequences. And after all we had been through, we didn’t even get to keep the baseball.

IT'S MONEY OUT OF YOUR POCKET any way you look at it.

Any way you look at it, it's money out of our pocket. And there's no end to their deviousness. I'm talking about the guy that used to be called Uncle Sam. That name had a nice connotation to it at one time. Can't you picture a soft spoken, gray-haired guy that really cared about us? The uncle we could go to for answers and problem solving? That Uncle Sam has died, replaced by a look alike. The new Uncle Sam is a fake.

I don't know about you but I always look for the ways the fake Uncle Sam wants to keep the money of ours he already has while, at the same time, looking for ways to get more without our noticing it. Our fake uncle is considering a new method of measuring inflation that would increase taxes for most families. Who would lose the most? Try those with low incomes.

His latest ploy is the xChained Consumer Price Index (CCPI).It's a measure that shows a lower level of inflation. Yearly adjustments to the tax brackets would become smaller. This would push more people into higher tax brackets.
Others whose wages would rise faster than the new inflation would have increases in their standard deductions and personal exemptions.

It's estimated this would take $60 billion more dollars out of our pockets over the next ten years. The rub is it would push more people into higher tax brackets. Their wages would rise faster than the new inflation measure. It would result in annual increases in our standard deductions and personal becoming smaller.

An example was used that if you buy beef and its higher than the last time you bought it, and the price of pork has stayed level, you will buy more pork. This decreases the amount of inflation we experience.

This action would let our fake uncle gradually cut benefits and increase taxes in a way that might not be readily apparent to us.

We have CPAs running our economy and they ain't looking out for us.

Another U.S. General "fired"

A political General named John Allen is the commander of an "International Security Assistance Force (ISAF), whatever that is, has said U.S. Army General Peter Fuller has been "fired." His crime? He has spoken out against the Afghanistan government. Way to go General! But I thought you were a UNITED STATES ARMY GENERAL, not an ISAF General!

As reported in "Politico," Fuller said Afghan government leadership are "isolated from reality." He was reacting to AFghanistan President Karzai's statement that Afghanistan would side with Pakistan if it were to go to war with the United States. "Why don't you just poke me in the eye with a needle! You've got to be kidding me … I'm sorry, we just gave you $11.6 billion and now you're telling me, 'I don't really care?"

"You can teach a man how to fish, or you can give them a fish," Fuller said. "We're giving them fish while they're learning, and they want more fish! What they're telling us, according to Fuller, is "' like swordfish, how come you're giving me cod?' Guess what? Cod's on the menu today."

Washington's reaction to all this can be summed up in Allen's remarks. "The Afghan people are an honorable people, and comments such as these will not keep us from accomplishing our most critical and shared mission - bringing about a stable, peaceful and prosperous Afghanistan."
They and their neighbors are getting prosperous for sure.

Add $20 million to the figure quoted above for a Pakistani Sesame Street. Maybe there's a motive in firing the General. He is now free to produce the show!

How about the streets in my neighborhood Washington?

CAN WE TRUST MAJOR MEDIA NEWS OUTLETS?

FOXNews has called them the alphabet networks - ABC, CBS and NBC. Anyone reading between the lines knows they're all in the tank for the current POTUS. It's slick and the unsophisticated of the world take them at face/word value. Others, however, being a bit more discerning, recognize news 'spin' for what it is. A good example was a Jay Leno late night television show this week.

Jay asked questions of the President that, through Sullivan's eye, were designed to take the conversation where POTUS wanted it to go. They're both naturals and it came across as unscripted and natural dialogue. This writer, however, saw a design to it. Wes,hy? He's been on the campaign trail since he was elected. And the Left is scared S..tless. That's why the Left is turning out their supporters in the streets. (Hey cities, looking for revenue? Arrest & fine 'em. Take their leftist bankrollers to the cleaners!)

Let's switch to international news for a moment. Can we believe the news coming out of anywhere overseas via these networks. Assad in Syria is being portrayed as a bad guy because he's trying to keep order in his nation. Like Iraq, will we see the time when weapons of mass destruction are allegedly at his fingertips? That would give us a reason to try and bomb him out of existence, like we're trying to do in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Afghanistan, Iraq, Libya, Iran....they have all existed almost forever. They will exist in the future as well. So, why do we need to be there?

Let's also look at the crowds in the streets everywhere. They're being led, of course, by organizations with an agenda. One thousand people rioted in Oakland, California recently. The television coverage, coupled with the crowds gathering in other cities, would have some believe that it is a populist movement. Judging by the polls, a significant number of Americans don't know who to believe. In other words, the unsophisticated who get their politics "off the shelf", i.e. from the alphabet networks. None read between the lines. None take the time become a political sophisticate.

Let's look at Greece in the news. Rioters there are a minority. However, seeing them on major news outlets would make us believe it's the entire country.

Who will win this propaganda battle? It will be the undecided that will make us or break us we we vote in 2012. My responsibility as a writer is to fight for what I believe. And you can bet the alphabet networks and the Left will fight me and what I believe.

TAKE THEIR MONEY!

I just heard how many millions of dollars are being wasted as metropolitan police are trying to cope with anarchists through the U.S. Well, arrest 'em and fine 'em. Might as well take their money. Wouldn't that put a quick end to it. I mean, could YOU afford it?

Who's funding them anyway? THAT'S who should cough up the bucks.

Is a Communist transition in America possible?

Under the guise of a first-ever test of our Emergency Alert System (EAS), the federal government, on November 9, 2011, will shut down ALL television and radio communications SIMULTANEOUSLY to allegedly test the abilities of the system. (http://transition.fcc.gov/pshs/services/eas/)

Why this and why now?

According to their website, "Only the President has the authority to activate EAS at the national level, and he has delegated that authority to the Director of FEMA. The test will be conducted jointly by the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) through FEMA, the Federal Communications Commission (FCC), and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s (NOAA) National Weather Service (NWS)."

Why this and why now?

The current resident of the White House has delegated executive authority to a government agency. Where is the voice of our Congress? Where is the voice of our judiciary? Our Constitution separates the powers. Only by subverting the Constitution can this be accomplished.

Imagine, if you will, a time when there is chaos in the streets of America. Imagine mobs in our major cities, directed by Leftists, burning, rioting and killing. Will we even know about it?

Imagine, if you will, a time when the only news we get is government news. No free thought, no opinion.

Do you think Europeans ever imagined the holocaust that was World War Two? Did Jewish people, Catholics, gypsies et al ever imagine death camps where they would be transported and executed?

Why this and why now?

Did the estimated six to seven million people in the Ukraine, northern Caucasus and the lower Volga River area in 1932-1933 ever imagine the Communist Stalin would starve them to death?

Did the 22,000 Polish Nationals and Prisoners of War executed under the orders of Russian Premier Stalin ever imagine they would be executed Russia's Katyn Forest?

Did the million Irish who starved during the Great Hunger ever imagine their corn, mutton and beef would be exported by their English overlords while they had no food?

John Lennon's 'Imagine' didn't quite have things like this in mind.

"Where's the dough?

While Libyans "rejoice" in the death of Omar, I wonder where is/are his bank account(s)?

I've got to believe between the CIA, KGB, British M-16 and Mossad, they all have known where he has been hiding. Imagine if you will a 'back door', i.e. 'worm', in software that would allow one to peruse where his loot was and how to get it transferred.

Now, if you have THAT info, wouldn't you have to wait until he was dead, or about to be dead, to transfer his loot to wherever you wanted to put it?

I'm betting somebody's grabbed it we'll never know who.

Why are you telling us about this NOW?

U.S. Ties Iran to Assassination Plot Against Saudi Diplomat on U.S. Soil

At a press conference addressing issues regarding the failed anti-gun running 'Operation Fast and Furious', and U.S. Attorney General Holder's possible lying to Congress about when he knew about it, Holder used the Press Conference to deflect attention. U.S. Border Agent Brian Terry was murdered and guns from this operation were found at the scene. Holder and other Justice Department officials are being subpoened regaridng the botched operation. U.S. Border Agent Brian Terry was murdered and guns from the operation were found at the scene.

At the end of the press conference Holder announced there has been a Iranian government-backed plot to kill to kill Adel al-Jubeir, the Saudi Arabian Ambassador to the U.S. There's no doubt that if thie plot had succeeded it would be an 'act of war'. Some are saying the Pentagon and Defense Department should be "doing something" while others are saying this isn't a 'tripwire' for military action and the Justice Department should be handling this.

As reported on Fox News, Texas Congressman Poe said, "We have to do something." Yes, Congressman, we've had to "do something" for a long time now. And we are doing something.
Secretary of State Hillary Clinton said the U.S. would work with its allies to "send a very strong message that this kind of action, which violates international norms, must be ended." I told you we are doing something. We're sending strong messages. There's more.

We have warned travelers to be aware of possible attacks. And we're going to "enlist more countries in working together against what is becoming a clearer and clearer threat." Good, I feel better.

Do we want MORE assurances? the Treasury Department is also involved. They have imposed sanctions on five people who were allegedly involved in the plot. We're freezing their funds and prohibiting anyone here from doing business with them. I'm feeling even more better. Can we all now say WAY TO GO?

During John F. Kennedy's presidency attempts were made by intelligence elements in our own government to draw him into war with Cuba. They also wanted to strike the Soviet Union, i.e. Russia, with missiles. They even went so far as to stage phony attacks against Guantanamo Bay Naval Station, allegedly "killing" several of the so-called attackers (JFK and the Unspeakable, James W. Douglass. The provocations did not work but the American people believed they had actually occured.

In releasing this particular story at this particular time, I opine Attorney General Eric Holder and the White House are attempting to deflect heat that is being generated by the subpoenas being issued. In my eye, the entire legitimacy of our Justice Department is in question and, by extenstion, the White House too.

Holder is apparently a politician first, carrying out marching orders from his boss, who also needs to deflect heat away from fallen popularity.

What do you know about Herman Cain?

Author unknown.

Bio on Herman Cain:

Herman Cain is running for president. He’s not a career politician (in fact he has never held political office). He’s known as a pizza guy, but there’s a lot more to him. He’s also a computer guy, a banker guy, and a rocket scientist guy. Here’s his bio:

Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics.
Master’s degree in Computer Science.
Mathematician for the Navy, where he worked on missile ballistics (making him a rocket scientist).
Computer systems analyst for Coca-Cola.
VP of Corporate Data Systems and Services for Pillsbury (this is the top of the ladder in the computer world, being in charge of information systems for a major corporation).
All achieved before reaching the age of 35. Since he reached the top of the information systems world, he changed careers!

Business Manager. Took charge of Pillsbury’s 400 Burger King restaurants in the Philadelphia area, which were the company’s poorest performers in the country. Spent the first nine months learning the business from the ground up, cooking hamburger and yes, cleaning toilets. After three years he had turned them into the company’s best performers.
Godfather’s Pizza CEO. Was asked by Pillsbury to take charge of their Godfather’s Pizza chain (which was on the verge of bankruptcy). He made it profitable in 14 months.
In 1988 he led a buyout of the Godfather’s Pizza chain from Pillsbury. He was now the owner of a restaurant chain. Again he reached the top of the ladder of another industry.
He was also chairman of the National Restaurant Association during this time. This is a group that interacts with government on behalf of the restaurant industry, and it gave him political experience from the non-politician side.

Having reached the top of a second industry, he changed careers again!
Adviser to the Federal Reserve System. Herman Cain went to work for the Federal Reserve Banking System advising them on how monetary policy changes would affect American businesses.
Chairman of the Kansas City Federal Reserve Bank. He worked his way up to the chairmanship of a regional Federal Reserve bank. This is only one step below the chairmanship of the entire Federal Reserve System (the top banking position in the country). This position allowed him to see how monetary policy is made from the inside, and understand the political forces that impact the monetary system.

After reaching the top of the banking industry, he changed careers for a fourth time!
Writer and public speaker. He then started to write and speak on leadership. His books include Speak as a Leader, CEO of Self, Leadership is Common Sense, and They Think You’re Stupid.
Radio Host. Around 2007—after a remarkable 40 year career—he started hosting a radio show on WSB in Atlanta (the largest talk radio station in the country).

He did all this starting from rock bottom (his father was a chauffeur and his mother was a maid). When you add up his accomplishments in his life—including reaching the top of three unrelated industries: information systems, business management, and banking—Herman Cain may have the most impressive resume of anyone that has run for the presidency in the last half century.

OH yeah, Barack has accomplished ...??

The French Revolution and the 2011 White House

Watching the History Channel's story on the French Revolution, Jean Paul Marta, who was a revolutionary himself, is quoted as calling a faction of the revolutionaries "enemies of the people" and "professional malcontents."

I chuckled, immediately thinking of the current occupants of the White House.

Commencement Speech at American University University, John F. Kennedy, June 10, 1963

This address by then-President Kennedy, has all been lost to history. It was ignored by the major media of the time. It is as if he was addressing the nation in the year 2011.

"It is the responsibility of the executive branch at all levels of government-local, State, and National-to provide and protect that freedom for all of our citizens by all means within their authority. It is the responsibility of the legislative branch at all levels, wherever that authority is not now adequate, to make it adequate. And it is the responsibility of all citizens in all sections of this country to respect the rights of all others and to respect the law of the land."

With our economic freedom in jeopardy we must make our government adequate in 2012. We have enemies within and without that desire to see the United States of America collapse in a broken heap. Private enterprise, capitalism and the wealth of once once-greatest-nation-on-earth and people will be a thing of the past. We will be at the mercy of others. If we make the wrong decisions in 2012 it'll be over. Or, as the cartoons wrap it up they say, "That's all folks!"

What's a guy to do?

If you're the head of a nation, and "civilians" are going crazy in the streets, "Who ya gonna call?" Ghostbusters can't help you in this one.

I don't care for him one way or the other but Syria's President Assad is just such a guy. He's damned if he does and damned if he doesn't and he's being demonized by POTUS. Suppose for a moment the same thing was happening in the U.S. Would we call out the troops and clean the streets of the demonstrators? Or should we let anarchy reign and the government topple, regardless of what our Constitution says?

That's basically Assad's dilemna. POTUS this week called for United Nations sanctions against Syria 'cause they're shooting "civilians". Yeah, and if demonstrators here were shooting cops and/or National Guardsmen, they, too, would be shooting "civilians". Afterall, they are our fellow citizens, aren't they.

It's hands-off Syria Mr. President. But you're going to do what you want to do anyway, regardless of how the American people feel about it.

I believe that banking institutions are more dangerous to our liberties than standing armies. If the American people ever allow private banks to control the issue of their currency, first by inflation, then by deflation, the banks and corporations that will grow up around the banks will deprive the people of all property - until their children wake-up homeless on the continent their fathers conquered.

Thomas Jefferson said in 1802:
I believe that banking institutions are more dangerous to our liberties than standing armies. If the American people ever allow private banks to control the issue of their currency, first by inflation, then by deflation, the banks and corporations that will grow up around the banks will deprive the people of all property - until their children wake-up homeless on the continent their fathers conquered.

Free s..t. (I'm not the author)

The folks who are getting the free shit, don't like the folks who are paying for the free shit,
Because the folks who are paying for the free shit,
Can no longer afford to pay for both the free shit and their own shit,

And,
The folks who are paying for the free shit,
Want the free shit to stop.
and the the folks who are getting the free shit,
Want even more free shit on top of the free shit they are already getting!

Now... The people who are forcing the people who Pay for the free shit,
Have told the people who are RECEIVING the free shit,
That the people who are PAYING for the free shit,
Are being mean, prejudiced, and racist.

So... the people who are GETTING the free shit,
Have been convinced they need to hate the people who are paying for the free shit,
By the people who are forcing some people to pay for their free shit,
And giving them the free shit in the first place.

We have let the free shit giving go on for so long that there are
Now more people getting free shit than paying for the free shit.

Now understand this. All great democracies have committed financial suicide
somewhere between 200 and 250 years after being founded. The reason?
The voters figured out they could vote themselves money from the treasury by electing
people who promised to give them money from the treasury in exchange for electing them.

The United States officially became a Republic in 1776, 231 years ago. The number of people now
getting free shit outnumbers the people paying for the free shit. We have one chance to change that
in 2012. Failure to change that spells the end of the United States as we know it.

Nationalizing American Banks - You can fool some of the people...

If they can't get it by going through the front door, they will try the back door. That's this writer's opinion of the proposed "National Infrastructure Bank".

Warren Buffet recently put 5 million bucks into the Bank of America. Do you think he did this because he sees BoA as a good investment? Maybe, but I believe he's done it to ward off the "nationalization" of one of America's banks by the current White House.

What is "nationalization"? I can best describe it by a cartoon I saw when Fidel Castro was at the height of his power in Cuba. He had just hit a fly ball to the outfield. Before it could be caught he shouted, "Quick, nationalize the outfield!"

Janet Kavinoky, director of what is being called "infrastructure issues at the U.S. Chamber of Commerce", believes the best incentive for "job growth" in the short term is for Congress to pass long-stalled bills to fund aviation and highway programs. She goes on to say we're one of the few large countries that lack a "central source of low-cost financing for constructon projects". Hmmm, does that translate to "union" jobs and central planning?

Who else is on board while there are continued attempts to move our nation to communism?
Sen. John Kerry, D-Mass. is one of 'em. He's already sponsoring an infrastructure bank bill. Spouting a leftist theory, he says such an endeavor would have moola flowing as early as next year.

Michael Likosky is a senior fellow at the NYU Institute for Public Knowledge, an impressive-sounding title. He's written "Obama's Bank: Financing a Durable New Deal." He says that states with transportation agencies, like California and New York, are frothing at the mouth as they wait for Uncle Sam to come up with the money. What am I missing here? He's talking about the same federal government that has NO money? Abracadabara....

A slick endeavor such as what will be proposed is another step towards the socialization of America in the guise of a new banking system that would be controlled by the Federal Government. Uh uh!

We can expect our government-controlled media to fully support this not-so-blatant attempt to nationalize our economy. If one reads between the lines we can see it's another small-step by the federal government towards "seizing" capital that is now unreachable, i.e., pension funds, private equity funds and sovereign wealth funds that are reportedly worth hundreds of billions of dollars.

For the little money I have, I'm waiting until the election of 2012 is over. The outcome will either make us or break us. A better approach will be to encourage capital to flow back into the U.S. by creating every incentive available to allow it. The federal government has to get out of the way, not create avenues to control more of what's left of our economy and free-enterprise system.

Our system of government and economy is what produced the greatest nation in history. To quote President Reagan, "Government is not the answer. Government is the problem."

On Being Noble

According to Encarta, the proclaimed World English Dictionary, the definition of the word noble is:

1: "having excellent moral character: possessing high ideals or excellent moral character;
2: aristocratic: belonging or relating to an aristocratic social or political class
3: relating to high moral principles: based on high ideals or revealing excellent moral character."

With that being said, I believe the fall of the Irish clan system of government and their leaders, the O'Neills, O'Donnells, O'Sullivans, et al, are perhaps due to the the failure of the Irish people themselves.

Ask the Irish and most, if they are being honest and/or knowledgeable, will tell you the Irish are a jealous of another's success. Perhaps this comes from having been divided against ourselves. We certainly didn't need the English to do it but they saw this flaw in our character and exploited it.

In reading Beara to Breifne, edited by Donal O Siodhachain, I was surprised to learn of the attacks on Donal O'Sullivan Beare as he fled Dunboy Castle in Castletownbeare. One usually thinks of the English being the sole cause for their 600 year rule of Ireland. To read of the attacks on O'Sullivan by other Irish clans was an education.

Were these attacks a case of the "have nots" wanting to be "haves?" Or was it because of the wealth of the English and the 'thirteen pieces of silver" they always seemed to have to compensate their Irish informer and cement their power in Ireland?

Perhaps it the abject failure of clan leaders to stay in touch with their own people. Did they ensconse themselves in relative richness and luxury while the populace did not share in the wealth? Were Irish agrarian families too large for this to be possible?

Some years back I met James O'Sullivan of Castletownbeare. He had traveled with his daughter and son-in-law to Staten Island, New York for the commissioning of the new U.S. Navy Fletcher-class destroyer, USS The Sullivans. He was there by invitation because he was The O'Sullivan Beare. Who made the late James the O'Sullivan Beare you ask? He assumed the title as it had been vacated and no one was holding it. In my mind's eye that made him a true clan leader. It wasn't wealth or good looks or social standing or his personal lobbying. It was the re-assumption of a title for which no O'Sullivan had claimed AND the apparent acknowledgement of the O'Sullivan Beare clan for him to possess the title.

Bringing that knowledge back home here to Ohio got me thinking. If James had assumed the vacated title in Ireland, and no one had assumed and/or created the title in America, I would do it.

Since my grade school years I had always yearned for knowledge of where we had come from. I have spent a lifetime (I'm currently 68 years old) seeking my genealogical roots, beginning with the Sullivan line. It has naturally expanded to learning about the history of our family both here in the U.S., in Ireland and in lands before Ireland. In the process, being a Sullivan in America has defined me. And I am grateful that it has.

To be of noble birth, in my book, is to honor those who I am a part of and therefore are alive in me. I know of no foul or evil deeds of any of my Sullivan/O'Sullivan ancestors. Perhaps they are there but I am not aware of any. I am not a saint nor do I pretend to be. I'm not the author of "Patrick was a Saint, I ain't!" but it is a favorite I like to use.

Being a third-generation Irish-American Sullivan, I spent many years trying to be somebody I wasn't. Perhaps it was due in part to spending the 7th through High School grades in a Hungarian neighborhood in Cleveland. It was only when I belatedly recognized and accepted my Irishness, and perhaps that which is "noble" in my ancestry, did I accept who I am.

I do not hold myself to be better than anyone else. However, I am nobody's fool either. I am a lifelong seeker of knowledge of the Sullivan/O'Sullivan lineage and continue to build on it.
y leadership as The O'Sullivan in America.

I invite the reader and members of the International O'Sullivan Clan and others to opine.

What's that you say, starvation in Somalia?

I've seen them on the TV networks. Women with skinny kids who look like they're starving. I don't see any men though? Where are they? In uniform? Isn't this one of the nations in Africa where the men rape women indiscriminately?

Somali warlords control the nation. They also control what food comes in so it only goes to where they want it to go. It ain't a democracy folks! They've learned from Washington - politics first.

Maybe the men have left there and come to the American heartland. Why are they here? Who knows. Many of 'em have left and gone to train to be terrorists.

Yes, I'm jaundiced about what's going on, and rightly so. It IS time for a change.

TRYING TO FIGURE IT OUT

For some time now, like other Americans, I've been following the reporting of civilian deaths in the oil barrel that is the Middle East. Specifically, the reporting of government forces there killing civilians who are rioting. Our newspapers here in the U.S. have universally taken the attitude,"Bad government, good civilians."

Think about America. Now what are we to do if gangs of people attempt to burn down the White House; or burn down a city; or blow up a neighborhood; or kill Christians? If our security forces responded with force, wouldn't they be "killing civilians"?

I've been reading about gangs of youth around the nation swarming into shopping districts and stores and grabbing and running. Aren't the owners of these businesses, and our own security forces, authorized to protect their property? Well, we can't "kill civilians" now,can we? The funny thing about all that is going on in the cities is IT'S NOT BEING REPORTED! I must ask myself, why?

In Illinois, for example, there was a call to activate the National Guard in Chicago to stop this type of violence. I'm wondering if the Illinois NG. was even in-country.

I guess the question is who's gonna talk about all this and what should be the proper response before it gets out of control?

I'm showing my age!

I went to a noon Mass today with two of our granddaughters. I'm thinking of not going again.

In the "old days" it would be inconceivable for a man or woman to show up in church wearing shorts and sandals. Even the lector, who did the first and second readings, was wearing shorts. To top it off, he walked on and off the altar as if he was going to the store. No sign of respect to the tabernacle and being in the house of God; not even a bow of his head. What's next, a priest in shorts and tank top?

Across the aisle was another adult in shorts. He wasn't the only one in church wearing what must be called a "summer 'uniform". Now I accept youngsters in shorts or jeans but adults?

Afterwards I communicated my displeasure to a family member. She said those were the reasons she doesn't go to that church anymore.

Wouldn't you think the parish bulletin would outline a dress code? It should go without saying but when nobody says anything....well, guess what you get.

An American Tragedy, Kent State University, May, 1971.

The month of May in Ohio ushers in the blossoming of flowers and long-awaited warmer Spring breezes. In 1971, however, May Day began a series of events that turned ugly and forever branded Kent State University.

On Friday May 1, a drunken downtown mixture of students, transients, bikers and others began a rampage. The Mayor declared an emergency and called in Ohio’s National Guard. Thus began the tragedy of Kent State and a May memory we would rather not have.

On Saturday, National Guard troops were activated in response to rioting on campus. They arrived at 10:00 pm, too late to prevent the burning of one of the three buildings housing the Reserve Officer Training Corps (ROTC). On Sunday a curfew was established in an attempt to prevent more violence.

Attempts to disperse a Monday on campus-crowd by the National Guard resulted in the killing of four students and wounding of others. Kent State University has never been the same.

In the aftermath, some students would “open our windows and play CSNY Four Dead in OHIO. Through this writers eye, it was nothing to sing about. However, if you HAD to, a more appropriate Crosby Stills, Nash and Young tune to play would have been “Teach Your Children.”

American families have suffered war losses since our founding. The Revolutionary War, War of 1812, Spanish-American War, WWI (nobly called the war to end all wars), WWII, et al. My family argues that war is NOT the natural state. Unfortunately, I believe it IS, but does not have to be.

Were I to sing a song today it would be for ALL families throughout the world who have suffered, and do suffer, because of war - Pete Seeger’s “Where Have All The Flowers Gone?” I would sing it for our servicemen and women, for our children, our grandchildren and for We, the living.

Lest I be criticized for my views, I have paid my dues to say so. I AM an honorably-discharged American veteran who carried a gun for this nation here and overseas.

Local School Board Levy Failure

I note the remarks made by School Board Superintendent Wayne Blankenship (News Leader 05/04/11). He is “tremendously hurt” because of the school levy failure. If I may speak on behalf of the voters who rejected it, we are tremendously galled that you have run up a deficit of almost four million dollars. Just when did you think the chickens would come home to roost?
Blankenship is right about one thing though, the students don’t deserve this.

The School Board deficit is reflective of a larger problem, that of local, state and national government overspending without any thought to who is going to pay for it. If we voters had the same spending attitudes we’d be on the street because we couldn’t pay our debts. I’m reminded of the line in the movie Top Gun; “Son, your ego is writing checks your body can’t cash.”

Perhaps one possible solution to the problem might be a combination of reduced local, state and federal spending and reduced/eliminated billion dollar so-called “foreign aid” to governments who are taking We, the Taxpayers, for a ride

Investment in America?

The United States has the highest corporate tax rate in the world - 35%. It doesn't take a financial genius to understand what this means - money (capital) goes where money gets. And it's not going, or remaining, in the United States.

General Electric paid no U.S. taxes last year. Budget recommendations currently being proposed closes loopholes, like those G.E. has received.

FOX News contributor Charles Krauthammer recommends eliminating loopholes and then, with the money we get from that, lower tax rates across the board to 8%,15% and 23%. It's called "broadening the base." This is something even the President's own Deficit Commission recommends.

I recently heard an argument that Google's operation in Ireland funnels profits there to a bank in the Netherlands. From there it is moved to an offshore bank, in the Bahamas as I recall. Why do I bring this up? Because the U.S. is getting 35% of nothing.

There's no reason that we can't be getting a percentage of SOMETHING. What do you think might happen if we coupled lowered tax rates to reduced government spending? Might we see a return to American prosperity and investment in America?

Take a look at a Sunday newspaper from the 1960s. Scroll to the Employment Ads. Compare what you see there to the same today. Get the picture?.

The Sad State of Social Security - the betrayal of the American Middle Class

Although the piece below blames Social Security's woes on the Democrats, Republicans must share in the betrayal. I have not checked ALL of these points with snopes.com or others. If you find any untruths please advise and I will amend my post.

SUBJECT: HISTORY LESSON ON YOUR SOCIAL SECURITY CARD

Forwarded from Pete Hannon. Author unknown.

"Your Social Security

Just in case some of you young whippersnappers (& some older ones) didn't know this. It's easy to check out, if you don't believe it. Be sure and show it to your kids. They need a little history lesson on what's what and it doesn't matter whether you are Democrat or Republican. Facts are Facts!!!
Social Security Cards up until the 1980s expressly stated the number and card were not to be used for identification purposes. Since nearly everyone in the United States now has a number, it became convenient to use it anyway and the message was removed.[9]

An old Social Security card with the "NOT FOR IDENTIFICATION" message.
Our Social Security

Franklin Roosevelt, a Democrat, introduced the Social Security (FICA) Program. He promised: If you go to the Social Security Administration government website you'll find that Social Security is a Voluntary program, and only the SSA can require you to give a Social Security Number for the purposes of identification. No American is required to pay into this federally setup Social Security Insurance program, Nor is any American required to apply for or obtain a SSN from the SSA.

No longer Voluntary http://wiki.answers.com/Q/Is_social_security_voluntary

1) That the participants would only have to pay 1% of the first $1,400 of their annual Incomes into the Program,

Now 7.65% on the first $90,000

2.) That the money the participants elected to put into the Program would be deductible from their income for tax purposes each year,

No longer tax deductible

3.) That the money the participants put into the independent 'Trust Fund' rather than into the general operating fund, and therefore, would only be used to fund the Social Security Retirement Program, and no other Government program, and,

Under Johnson the money was moved to The General Fund and Spent

4.) That the annuity payments to the retirees would never be taxed as income.

Under Clinton & Gore up to 85% of your Social Security can be Taxed Since many of us have paid into FICA for years and are now receiving a Social Security check every month -- and then finding that we are getting taxed on 85% of the money we paid to the Federal government to 'put away' -- you may be interested in the following:

------------ --------- --------- --------- --------- --------- ----

Q: Which Political Party took Social Security from the independent 'Trust Fund' and put it into the general fund so that Congress could spend it?

A: It was Lyndon Johnson and the democratically controlled House and Senate.

------------ --------- --------- --------- --------- --------- --------- --

Q: Which Political Party eliminated the income tax deduction for Social Security (FICA) withholding?

A: The Democratic Party.

------------ --------- --------- --------- --------- --------- --------- -----

Q: Which Political Party started taxing Social Security annuities?

A: The Democratic Party, with Al Gore casting the 'tie-breaking' deciding vote as President of the Senate, while he was Vice President of the US

------------ --------- --------- --------- --------- --------- --------- -

Q: Which Political Party decided to start giving annuity payments to immigrants?

AND MY FAVORITE:

A: That's right! Jimmy Carter and the Democratic Party. Immigrants moved into this country, and at age 65, began to receive Social Security payments! The Democratic Party gave these payments to them, even though they never paid a dime into it!

------------ -- ------------ --------- ----- ------------ ---------

Then, after violating the original contract (FICA), the Democrats turn around and tell you that the Republicans want to take your Social Security away!

And the worst part about it is uninformed citizens believe it! If enough people receive this, maybe a seed of awareness will be planted and maybe changes will evolve. Maybe not, some Democrats are awfully sure of what isn't so.

But it's worth a try. How many people can YOU send this to?

Actions speak louder than bumper stickers.

AND CONGRESS GIVES THEMSELVES 100% RETIREMENT FOR ONLY SERVING ONE TERM!!!

Tyranny of the Minority

in Wisconsin, judicial fiddling is thwarting the will of the majority. With Republicans in power, democratic Leftists are not about to go without a fight. And, we can expect the same in Ohio.

Judging by the antics of the minority in Ohio and Wisconsin, you wouldn't know thee had been an election throwing the Democrats out of power. The left has fallen back on their tried and true - getting a Leftist Judge to back them up.

A fight is looming, not only in Ohio and Wisconsin, but across the nation as labor unions pour money into the alphabet networks. The spin? Why, those who are calliing for an end to the insanity of govenment ot-of-control spending are out to eliminate the middle class. Did you ever hear such bunk in your life?

Unions have a stranglehold on their membership. Anybody who has followed the history of French labor understands what is going on here. Did you know that during a Pacific battle in WWII union workers on an ammunition ship refused to unload? This happened in the middle of an island batrtle. The Marines unloaded the ship themselves, after throwing the union members overboard.

At stake here is whether elections will be what they have always been or whether the Left will continue to corrupt what has been our American way of life.

The Cleveland Plain Dealer this past week used the story of the 1911 shirt factory fire in New York City to support the need for unions. Only a butthead would dispute that labor was exploited grievously. But to use that example to justify what is going on today defies logic.

J. Edgar Hoover wrote a book called "The Big Lie." It's being practiced here openly.

Do You Know How Much Crap is on Shopping Cart Handles?

Commenting on a newspaper article I had just read regarding the amounts and types of bacteria found on shopping cart handles, I said I now disinfect both my hands and the handles of the cart with the anti-bacterial wipes provided by the store.

One of the parties I was speaking with asked me my age. When I told her she commented something to the affect that I had lived this long without using anti-bacterial wipes and we’re becoming, in her opinion, a world of people who overuse anti-biotics and thereby are less able to resist infections.

While there may be some truth in her unnecessarily sarcastic retort, I was nonetheless offended by her inferring that what I was now doing was ridiculous and pointless.

My Fight with Caveman

Just this week I had been thinking of updating a story I had previously written about when my family moved from the west side of Cleveland to the east side. When I wrote it JC was TJ to protect the guilty. I submitted "We're Moving to the East Side?" to the editor of the Plain Dealer Sunday Magazine. They had previously published "My First Flight". The new editor however had rejected this one, saying it appeared "contrived". Thinking about him this week for some reason, it was my intention to trim the original story and just post the part about my fight with "Caveman." In this morning's Plain Dealer is "Caveman's", Addison Anderson's, obituary.

In 1954, midway through the 7th grade, our family moved to the Buckeye Road area of Cleveland. I went from a mostly Irish-Catholic grade school to one that was primarily Hungarian. Why we moved is another story.

As far as I was concerned, the east side was the other side of the world. I was uncomfortable with the thought of moving again after only four years. I had plenty of good friends, was a Boy Scout, the catcher on the CYO baseball team and a guard on the basketball team. The new school had no sports teams at all. I would miss it all: school, friends, neighborhood and sports.

The house we were renting was smaller than our west side home and it sat in the rear of a front house. While the family was busy settling in, my education was restarted at St. Margaret of Hungary grade school.

Wanting to make my best and baddest impression on my first day at school, I carefully scanned the available supply of the clean clothes that were unpacked. The choices were pretty limited. Being the third of nine children of a Cleveland cop never allowed a budget for new and fashionable clothes. Hand-me-downs were the order in our family. I selected my favorite and best pair of trousers to wear, the pair that fit me best. Black with a gray stripe down the side, the cuffs were 'pegged', considerably smaller than the legs. A non-descript shirt completed my ensemble and, with growing feelings of uneasiness and dread, I headed off to begin the new day.

The 7th grade teacher, Sister Mary Broken Knuckles, was beyond the golden years. Halfway through the morning the school bell clanged loudly. A Fire Drill? Air raid? What, we get a recess? Now here was something different from St. Vincent De Paul - recess. Probably for the teachers' mental health rather than anything we students might gain. A fifteen-minute break to be spent outside in the playground. Great. The line out to recess was surprisingly orderly. Once out in the playground I was approached by a classmate.

"Hi, my name is Addison Anderson. When did you move here?"

Trouble began right away for what I heard was, "Hi, my name is Anderson Anderson." A little confused at meeting someone with the same first and last names, I repeated my question. "What's your first name?"

"Anderson," I again heard repeated.

"And what's your LAST name?"

"Anderson."

Still confused, I repeated the first question. "What did you say your FIRST name is?"

"ANDERSON, MY NAME IS ANDERSON ANDERSON" he exploded. "You a wise guy or something? You wanna fight me?"

I wasn't a wimp but I didn't want to fight anybody. The last fight I was pushed into was at St. V's. That one was with Gary Dixon, the class bull’s hitter who deserved to get knocked around a bit. That one was a draw. I was average in height and thin, but wiry. Now, faced with a fight on my first day at school, I hadn't any idea how to extricate myself from the challenge. I was also the new kid on the block. To back out of a fight would mean that I was 'chicken', a label that any red-blooded school kid feared being applied to him. Following my base instincts I scowled, "Name the time and place."

"In the lavatory, right after school," Anderson quickly responded, still angry with me for what he perceived as my attempt to make him look like foolish. Anderson had another name too - Caveman. Not a bad moniker for someone about to engage in a fight. Kind of intimidates the opposition right away. The word about the fight got around. The lavatory after school was crowded with guys trying to get ringside seats to witness the fracas.

Caveman and I immediately began the time-honored tradition of warrior dialogue as we slowly circled each other. "Come-on, wiseass, make a move."

“Besides being ugly I notice you don't use deodorant."

That was enough to begin the first and only round. We pounced on each other, trading headlocks, hammerlocks and half nelsons, finally rolling on the floor clutched in hand-to-hand combat. Caveman was the home team, cheered on all his partisan supporters. The fight probably lasted only about five minutes with no bloodshed. We tired quickly and, to my recollection, the fight was deemed a standoff, nobody losing, and winning each other's respect. Caveman might have had a different recollection of who won!

During the 7th and 8th grade Addison had the greatest birthday parties at home. His mother cleared out his bedroom and allowed us to have pillow fights in the dark, with refreshments served afterwords. It was great fun until the year we broke a bedroom window and his Mom freaked a bit about it.

In later years while I was stationed at Fort Hood, Texas, someone wrote me with his address in El Paso. He invited me to his "humble abode" but I was never able to scrape together the necessary $$ to get there. We lost touch after that. I'd heard he went to Viet Nam and, like so many returned veterans, suffered some issues afterwards. He apparently lived in plain sight here in the Cleveland area but we could never locate him for class reunions and breakfast get-togethers. I was saddened to learn he was right under our noses the whole the time.

I will see you on the other side Anderson Anderson.

Thank you, again, Dr. Cosby, or What Would Abraham Lincoln Think Today?

All, it's about time somebody said it!

BILL HAS DONE IT AGAIN.

'They're standing on the corner and they can't speak English.

I can't even talk the way these people talk:

Why you ain't,
Where you is,
What he drive,
Where he stay,
Where he work,
Who you be...

And I blamed the kid until I heard the mother talk. And then I heard the father talk.
Everybody knows it's important to speak English except these knuckleheads. You can't be a doctor with that kind of crap coming out of your mouth. In fact you will never get any kind of job making a decent living.

People marched and were hit in the face with rocks to get an Education, and now we've got these knuckleheads walking around.

The lower economic people are not holding up their end in this deal. These people are not parenting. They are buying things for kids. $500 sneakers for what? And they won't spend $200 for Hooked on Phonics.

I am talking about these people who cry when their son is standing there in an orange suit.
Where were you when he was 2? Where were you when he was 12? Where were you when he was 18 and how come you didn't know that he had a pistol? And where is the father? Or who is his father?

People putting their clothes on backward: Isn't that a sign of something gone wrong?

People with their hats on backward, pants down around the crack, isn't that a sign of something?

Isn't it a sign of something when she has her dress all the way up and got all type of needles [piercing] going through her body?

What part of Africa did this come from??

We are not Africans. Those people are not Africans; they don't know a thing about Africa .....

I say this all of the time. It would be like white people saying they are European-American. That is totally stupid.

I was born here, and so were my parents and grand parents and, very likely my great grandparents. I don't have any connection to Africa, no more than white Americans have to Germany , Scotland , England , Ireland , or the Netherlands . The same applies to 99 percent of all the black Americans as regards to Africa . So stop, already! ! !

With names like Shaniqua, Taliqua and Mohammed and all of that crap ......... And all of them are in jail.

Brown or black versus the Board of Education is no longer the white person's problem.

We have got to take the neighborhood back.

People used to be ashamed. Today a woman has eight children with eight different 'husbands' -- or men or whatever you call them now.

We have millionaire football players who cannot read. We have million-dollar basketball players who can't write two paragraphs. We, as black folks have to do a better job.

Someone working at Wal-Mart with seven kids, you are hurting us. We have to start holding each other to a higher standard. We cannot blame the white people any longer.'

Dr.. William Henry 'Bill' Cosby, Jr., Ed..D.

WELL SAID, BILL
It's NOT about color...

It's about behavior!!!

Media manipulation in the United States

The most recent televised scenes out of Libya showed a crowd of little kids holding up signs in English. There were also adults with their faces covered up. I could just imagine the people behind the camera orchestrating events for American and World press.

The powerful television interests in the United States can be said to contribute to the success or failure of coups and changes in government throughout the world. I am old enough to recall the so-called 'students' in Iran when the Shah (our friend and ally) was deposed. I, too, remember the American hostages that were taken by the same group, protected by Marines without any ammo in their M-14s.

So, what's my point in all this? Simply that I don't believe what I see coming from our White House. I don't believe what I hear coming from our White House. And I certainly don't believe it when it's filtered and spun via NBC, CBS and ABC.

I am bracing myself for another attempt - that of untold millions/billions of American dollars being sent to these countries to foster "democracy". Dare I say I'm also bracing for hundreds of thousands of 'refugees' from political persecution?

In the American midwest there are Somalis working in meat packing plants. What's wrong with this picture?

I note New York's Peter King will hold hearings on radical Islam. Already the "crowd" of protesters are out in front of the television cameras. Makes it looks like most Americans are opposed to these hearings. King is being portrayed here as a hateful man.

Are we getting the right picture here?

WESTBORO BAPTIST CHURCH

Our Supreme Court has called it their right to spew their hate speech at the funerals of our fallen. They're calling it free speech. But it's not. It's hate speech. And I thought we had laws against it.

Another example of our government speaking with a forked tongue.

We, the majority.

Talk about crafting a mass mindset....Cleveland's only daily, the Plain Dealer, is the master.

They have revealed a recent "poll" that says we Americans would rather raise taxes than cut benefits to public workers in order to reduce state budget deficits. My first thought was, "Hmmm, whose poll is THIS?"

Taking a closer look was not a "eureka" moment. No surprise, they quoted a New York Times/CBS Poll. But, that's not all. On their OPINION page we find a letter from a Lyndhurst, Ohio reader that thinks all of us here must bail out the State of Ohio. Really?

The thinking of some people reflect two possible realities. The first, and probably the most accurate, is that years of Leftist/Liberal/Progressive editorial spin in the broadcast and print media have honed the minds of the masses. I recall seeing it on the blank faces of Iraqi prisoners of war who were being questioned. One half of their brain had never been exercised.

A second and possible reality is thinkers like the Lyndhurst resident are walk-a-ways from confinement in an Ohio Department of Mental Health facility.

It's payback time, but not from Ohio's taxpayers. Those with the excessive sick and vacation days, non-contributory pensions and no-cost-to-them medical coverage plans, are the recipients of benefits the majority of Ohioans have not had. Let them pay their own way, like the rest of us do.

♬The Eyes of Egypt are Upon Us♬ or Without A Doubt, The Rage HAS Come.

So thinks Plain Dealer writer Phillip Morris. For the reactionary and left-leaning readers of this blog, let me begin by saying unions were formed for good purposes. Take miners for example - paid by company script that could only be spent in company stores - where prices were artificially high. As Tennessee Ernie Ford sang, "I owe my soul to the company store."

With that out of the way I now turn my attention to the headline of today's Cleveland Plain Dealer, our only 8-( daily. I knew it would be coming, as it will come in all the major cities where the liberal Left control newspaper editorial boards.

Ohio, like other states, is attempting to bring ridiculous, runaway spending under control. We Buckeyes are attempting to create Right to Work laws in the state. This would be the end of collective bargaining for public employees - you know, the ones who are herding to state capitols across the nation. And the major city newspapers are dutifully pandering to union interests.

What are they missing here? Phillip Morris' column today headlined "Without a doubt, the rage is coming." He tries to fool us by saying it's "spontaneous rage." Oh yeah, like it's not orchestrated by unions? Talk about drawing a major premise from a minor premise...something I learned about in Chris Bunsey's English 101 class at Cleveland State University.

No, Mr. Morris, my headline is "Without A Doubt, The Rage HAS Come." That's why we elected conservatives to represent us throughout the nation. You can draw the major premise from that major premise.

So, let unions parade and Leftist writers pander to them. Have they forgotten how many people are OUT OF WORK in Ohio and elsewhere? We're not going to forget.

A REAGAN WHITE HOUSE STORY

This week saw a lot of splash in the media about the 100th birthday of President Ronald Reagan and his Presidency. During those years I was a Public Policy Spokesperson for him in the then-14th Ohio Congressional District (Summit County). Because of this, I had been to the White House on two occasions. The last time there the President was leaving for his California ranch.

Standing at the back door of the White House we watched the U.S. Marine helicopter descend on the landing pod. A Marine in dress blue uniform came out of the helicopter door and stood there at attention. When the President and his wife emerged from the White House they both headed for helicopter. We had been warned that no cameras would be allowed. Sheesh, at that moment all the associates with me pulled out their cameras and snapped away. I, playing by the rules, had left mine in the car. The Marine saluted as the President approached and entered the helicopter.

President Reagan turned around and waved, just as I had seen him do on evening television news on many occasions. As the helicopter took off we all chatted a bit then prepared to leave. Just then an identical helicopter hovered into view and landed in the spot where the first one had taken off from. A different Marine in dress blue uniform (different to my eyes) emerged and stood by. Soon an entourage emerged from the White House carrying various pieces of luggage and headed to the helicopter. When this occurred a female behind me who did not recognize that it was a different marine, hence a different helicopter, said, in all seriousness, “Oh, they forgot their luggage.”

EGYPT'S 'PROTESTERS" HAVE ALREADY WON

CBS News interviewed the new Egyptian Vice President today. He promised the military would not harm the protesters, just what the Obama administration wants. This, after seeing the protesters climbing all over military vehicles in Cairo. As the cartoons say, "That's all folks."

Does anybody believe this is truly "the people" revolting? It's not as if it's a grass-roots movement like America's Tea Party. If it's not organized then who's behind it? Even Fox News is taking the bait and doesn't think the Muslim Brotherhood is the impetus behind what's going on there. If that's the case then why is it also happening in Tunisia, Jordan, Yemen and elsewhere in the region?

Can we soon expect to see Iranian-style governments hostile to American interests in Saudi Arabia, Turkey, and in every nation in the region? The answer, I opine, is yes. And our American government will have aided and abetted their victory. Initially we'll hear it's a democracy, a wonderful thing for Egypt after the bad, bad Mubarak is gone. And at some point in time soon afterwards the Muslim Brotherhood in some guise will seize power.

Earlier generations of Americans and Europeans, post World Wars I and II, conceived the League of Nations and the United Nations. Both concepts were ideals. Well, the League of Nations died and the UN has become a tool of those who hate us. Too bad, as the situations (read people) in Iran and Egypt cry out for intercession by the good guys, those right-thinking nations who wish to preserve the peace.

Alas, Camelot went temporarily out the window when John F. Kennedy was murdered and those opposed to American idealism, within and without, seized and began to fill the vacuum created in our shocked nation.

I hold out little hope that leftist and liberal governments like that currently in power in the U.S., will do the right thing. Rather, they are joining the chorus of those chanting the Mubarak bad guy theme.

Lead by American media's creation of "pop thought", events will follow what they are telling the American people is happening. Those who see through it seem to be few and far between. Or maybe it's just their voices are not being heard....just like in today's Egypt and Iran.

THE MUSLIM BROTHERHOOD

A brotherhood. Sounds innocuous enough. Akin to the brothers of the Ancient Order of Hibernians whose motto is Friendship, Unity and True Christian Charity? I don't think so.

Egypt is in danger of becoming a 'democracy'.....something the White House and their admirers wish to see. One man - one vote. Even if they became a constitutional republic, like the United States, their Republic wouldn't last.

Does anybody really think a government run by the so-called Muslim Brotherhood would play fair for their own people, let alone other people? Aren't these the people who blow up and kill Christian Churches and Christians? Who blow up their own people? Aren't these the people who believe it's their way or no way?

The problem, as I see it, is their use of terrorism to seize and keep power. If they don't like you they kill you. How many dead bodies until good people are afraid to speak out? It's how they control populations. During World War II Russia's Joe Stalin and Germany's Adolf Hitler were masters at it....until matters got out of their control. The Muslims in control of Iran are masters at it, thanks to former President Jimmy Carter. When will matters there get out of control, just like matters now in Egypt.

With the Muslim Brotherhood in power, we can expect them to agitate politically throughout the Arab world. Remember, these are the guys who didn't know what oil was until we taught 'em. These are the guys who overcame Sicily and most of Spain. These are the guys who are visible through the U.S. at gas stations, carry out stores, small hotels/motels etc. Am I missing anything here?

I'd like to believe that the words Muslim Brotherhood really meant something. Oh, it sounds so nice, as if they were practicing Friendship, Unity and true Muslim Charity. I'd like to believe they are a positive influence for people everywhere. But I've witnessed nothing of the kind. And I don't believe I ever will.

I'm from Missouri - "show me"!

Tunisia, Lebanon, Egypt, Iran et al - the Domino Theory

We're witnessing orchestrated "riots" in Egypt and Lebanon, purportedly to change government. The Tunisian President/Prime Minister was recently forced from office, as was a pro-American Prime Minister in Lebanon. The 'rioters' are all young, Muslim men. The United States and our allies will continue to stand idly by while the enemies and freedom and Christianity seize power.

At one time we supported the leadership of Iran. Under President Jimmy Carter, we copped out on the Shah of Iran and thereby created the situation we are faced with today. The irony is the Iranian people, like those in North Korea, are enslaved. The people of Tunisia and Lebanon are next.

Our old CIA was demonized by the leftist American media. In the 'old days' the CIA was an organization that used to keep/put good guys in power. Our safety wasn't threatened by people who

I'm wondering when the people of France, Spain, Saudi Arabia et al will become enslaved, like what happened to Iranians did when we turned our back on our friend the Shah.

MIXING ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION WITH LEGAL

I'm quite positive that discerning Americans can see through it - the attempt by the American Left, via major media outlets, to make it appear that the American Right opposes immigration. I remain troubled, however, by non-discerning Americans. If they believe the pop thought being created by the Left, we on the RIGHT oppose immigration. Period.

Every American, and, yes, even native Americans, have come to the North American continent from somewhere. None of us were hatched from an egg here and can claim we're the Chosen Ones. We recognize our roots and the contributions of our ancestors to the building of this nation.

we do not oppose immigration, We oppose ILLEGAL immigration. My fervent hope is that non-discerning Americans have their thought formed news from other than Leftist sources.
