Socialism versus Individualism

Although Mr. Boortz never really made this speech, the issues he wrote about in 1997, socialism v individualism, are even more relevant today.

Summary of the eRumor
It is said to be a commencement speech delivered by nationally syndicated talk show host Neil Boortz. Among other things, he offends the faculty by saying they are the ones who can't "do" so they stay at college and teach. Some versions say he delivered the speech at his alma mater, Texas A M.
bullet
The Truth
The speech is from the pen of Neil Boortz and is posted on his website at www.boortz.com.

Boortz tells TruthOrFiction.com, however, that so far, it's never actually been delivered at a commencement.

He says he wrote the speech about 1997 in protest of never having been invited to give a commencement address.
It became the springboard for his first book, "The Commencement Speech You Need To Hear."
Later he produced an audio CD of the speech complete with crowd noise and applause, which has been aired on his radio program.

Boortz says that although Texas A  M is his alma mater, it is not true that he gave the speech there.

Neal Boortz is a Texan, a lawyer, a Texas Aggie (Texas A&M) graduate, and now a nationally syndicated talk show host from Atlanta. His commencement address to the graduates of a recent Texas A&M class is far different from what either the students or the faculty expected. Whether you agree or disagree, his views are certainly thought provoking.

“I am honored by the invitation to address you on this august occasion. It’s about time. Be warned, however, that I am not here to impress you; you’ll have enough smoke blown up your bloomers today. And you can bet your tassels I’m not here to impress the faculty and administration. You may not like much of what I have to say, and that’s fine. You will remember it though. Especially after about 10 years out there in the real world. This, it goes without saying, does not apply to those of you who will seek your careers and your fortunes as government employees.

This gowned gaggle behind me is your faculty. You’ve heard the old saying that those who can – do. Those who can’t – teach. That sounds deliciously insensitive. But there is often raw truth in insensitivity, just as you often find feel-good falsehoods and lies in compassion. Say good-bye to your faculty because now you are getting ready to go out there and do. These folks behind me are going to stay right here and teach.

By the way, just because you are leaving this place with a diploma doesn’t mean the learning is over. When an FAA flight examiner handed me my private pilot’s license many years ago, he said, “Here, this is your ticket to learn.” The same can be said for your diploma. Believe me, the learning has just begun.
Now, I realize that most of you consider yourselves Liberals. In fact, you are probably very proud of your liberal views. You care so much. You feel so much. You want to help so much. After all, you’re a compassionate and caring person, aren’t you now? Well, isn’t that just so extraordinarily special. Now, at this age, is as good a time as any to be a liberal; as good a time as any to know absolutely everything. You have plenty of time, starting tomorrow, for the truth to set in.

Over the next few years, as you begin to feel the cold breath of reality down your neck, things are going to start changing pretty fast… Including your own assessment of just how much you really know.

So here are the first assignments for your initial class in reality: Pay attention to the news, read newspapers, and listen to the words and phrases that proud Liberals use to promote their causes. Then, compare the words of the left to the words and phrases you hear from those evil, heartless, greedy conservatives.
From the Left you will hear “I feel.” From the Right you will hear “I think.” From the Liberals you will hear references to groups — The Blacks, the Poor, the Rich, the Disadvantaged, the Less Fortunate. From the Right you will hear references to individuals. On the Left you hear talk of group rights; on the Right, individual rights.

That about sums it up, really: Liberals feel. Liberals care. They are pack animals whose identity is tied up in group dynamics. Conservatives think — and, setting aside the theocracy crowd, their identity is centered on the individual.

Liberals feel that their favored groups have enforceable rights to the property and services of productive individuals. Conservatives, I among them I might add, think that individuals have the right to protect their lives and their property from the plunder of the masses.

In college you developed a group mentality, but if you look closely at your diplomas you will see that they have your individual names on them. Not the name of your school mascot, or of your fraternity or sorority, but your name. Your group identity is going away. Your recognition and appreciation of your individual identity starts now.

If, by the time you reach the age of 30, you do not consider yourself to be a conservative, rush right back here as quickly as you can and apply for a faculty position. These people will welcome you with open arms. They will welcome you, that is, so long as you haven’t developed an individual identity. Once again you will have to be willing to sign on to the group mentality you embraced during the past four years.

Something is going to happen soon that is going to really open your eyes. You’re going to actually get a full time job! You’re also going to get a lifelong work partner. This partner isn’t going to help you do your job. This partner is just going to sit back and wait for payday. This partner doesn’t want to share in your effort, but in your earnings.

Your new lifelong partner is actually an agent; an agent representing a strange and diverse group of people; an agent for every teenager with an illegitimate child; an agent for a research scientist who wanted to make some cash answering the age-old question of why monkeys grind their teeth. An agent for some poor demented hippie who considers herself to be a meaningful and talented artist, but who just can’t manage to sell any of her artwork on the open market.

Your new partner is an agent for every person with limited, if any, job skills, but who wanted a job at City Hall. An agent for tin-horn dictators in fancy military uniforms grasping for American foreign aid. An agent for multi-million dollar companies who want someone else to pay for their overseas advertising. An agent for everybody who wants to use the unimaginable power of this agent’s for their personal enrichment and benefit.

That agent is our wonderful, caring, compassionate, oppressive government. Believe me, you will be awed by the unimaginable power this agent has. Power that you do not have. A power that no individual has, or will have. This agent has the legal power to use force, deadly force to accomplish its goals.
You have no choice here. Your new friend is just going to walk up to you, introduce their self rather gruffly, hand you a few forms to fill out, and move right on in. Say hello to your own personal one ton gorilla. It will sleep anywhere it wants to.

Now, let me tell you, this agent is not cheap. As you become successful it will seize about 40% of everything you earn. And no, I’m sorry, there just isn’t any way you can fire this agent of plunder, and you can’t decrease its share of your income. That power rests with him, not you.
So, here I am saying negative things to you about government. Well, be clear on this: It is not wrong to distrust government. It is not wrong to fear government. In certain cases it is not even wrong to despise government for government is inherently evil. Yes, a necessary evil, but dangerous nonetheless, somewhat like a drug. Just as a drug that in the proper dosage can save your life, an overdose of government can be fatal.

Now let’s address a few things that have been crammed into your minds at this university. There are some ideas you need to expunge as soon as possible. These ideas may work well in academic environment, but they fail miserably out there in the real world.
First is that favorite buzz word of the media and academia: Diversity! You have been taught that the real value of any group of people – be it a social group, an employee group, a management group, whatever – is based on diversity. This is a favored liberal ideal because diversity is based not on an individual’s abilities or character, but on a person’s identity and status as a member of a group. Yes, it’s that liberal group identity thing again.

Within the great diversity movement group identification – be it racial, gender based, or some other minority status – means more than the individuals integrity, character or other qualifications.

Brace yourself. You are about to move from this academic atmosphere where diversity rules, to a workplace and a culture where individual achievement and excellence actually count. No matter what your professors have taught you over the last four years, you are about to learn that diversity is absolutely no replacement for excellence, ability, and individual hard work. From this day on every single time you hear the word “diversity” you can rest assured that there is someone close by who is determined to rob you of every vestige of individuality you possess.

We also need to address this thing you seem to have about “rights.” We have witnessed an obscene explosion of so-called “rights” in the last few decades, usually emanating from college campuses. You know the mantra: You have the right to a job. The right to a place to live. The right to a living wage. The right to health care. The right to an education. You probably even have your own pet right – the right to a Beemer for instance, or the right to have someone else provide for that child you plan on downloading in a year or so.

Forget it. Forget those rights! I’ll tell you what your rights are. You have a right to live free, and to the results of 60% -75% of your labor. I’ll also tell you have no right to any portion of the life or labor of another. You may, for instance, think that you have a right to health care. After all, President Obama said so, didn’t he? But you cannot receive health-care unless some doctor or health practitioner surrenders some of his time – his life – to you. He may be willing to do this for compensation, but that’s his choice. You have no “right” to his time or property. You have no right to his or any other person’s life or to any portion thereof.

You may also think you have some “right” to a job; a job with a living wage, whatever that is. Do you mean to tell me that you have a right to force your services on another person, and then the right to demand that this person compensate you with their money? Sorry, forget it. I am sure you would scream if some urban outdoors men (that would be “homeless person” for those of you who don’t want to give these less fortunate people a romantic and adventurous title) came to you and demanded his job and your money.

The people who have been telling you about all the rights you have are simply exercising one of theirs – the right to be imbeciles. Their being imbeciles didn’t cost anyone else either property or time. It’s their right, and they exercise it brilliantly.

By the way, did you catch my use of the phrase “less fortunate” a bit ago when I was talking about the urban outdoors men? That phrase is a favorite of the Left. Think about it, and you’ll understand why. To imply that one person is homeless, destitute, dirty, drunk, spaced out on drugs, unemployable, and generally miserable because he is “less fortunate” is to imply that a successful person – one with a job, a home and a future – is in that position because he or she was “fortunate.” The dictionary says that fortunate means “having derived good from an unexpected place.” There is nothing unexpected about deriving good from hard work. There is also nothing unexpected about deriving misery from choosing drugs, alcohol, and the street.

If the Liberal Left can create the common perception that success and failure are simple matters of “fortune” or “luck,” then it is easy to promote and justify their various income redistribution schemes. After all, we are just evening out the odds a little bit. This “success equals luck” idea the liberals like to push is seen everywhere. Former Democratic presidential candidate Richard Gephardt refers to high-achievers as “people who have won life’s lottery.” He wants you to believe they are making the big bucks because they are lucky. It’s not luck, my friends. It’s choice. One of the greatest lessons I ever learned was in a book by Og Mandino, entitled, “The Greatest Secret in the World.” The lesson? Very simple: “Use wisely your power of choice.”

That bum sitting on a heating grate, smelling like a wharf rat? He’s there by choice. He is there because of the sum total of the choices he has made in his life. This truism is absolutely the hardest thing for some people to accept, especially those who consider themselves to be victims of something or other – victims of discrimination, bad luck, the system, capitalism, whatever. After all, nobody really wants to accept the blame for his or her position in life. Not when it is so much easier to point and say, “Look! He did this to me!” than it is to look into a mirror and say, “You S. O. B.! You did this to me!”

The key to accepting responsibility for your life is to accept the fact that your choices, every one of them, are leading you inexorably to either success or failure, however you define those terms. Some of the choices are obvious: Whether or not to stay in school. Whether or not to get pregnant. Whether or not to hit the bottle. Whether or not to keep this job you hate until you get another better-paying job. Whether or not to save some of your money, or saddle yourself with huge payments for that new car.

Some of the choices are seemingly insignificant: Whom to go to the movies with. Whose car to ride home in. Whether to watch the tube tonight, or read a book on investing. But, and you can be sure of this, each choice counts. Each choice is a building block – some large, some small. But each one is a part of the structure of your life. If you make the right choices, or if you make more right choices than wrong ones, something absolutely terrible may happen to you. Something unthinkable. You, my friend, could become one of the hated, the evil, the ugly, the feared, the filthy, the successful, RICH.

The rich basically serve two purposes in this country. First, they provide the investments, the investment capital, and the brains for the formation of new businesses. Businesses that hire people. Businesses that send millions of paychecks home each week to the un-rich.

Second, the rich are a wonderful object of ridicule, distrust, and hatred. Few things are more valuable to a politician than the envy most Americans feel for the evil rich. Envy is a powerful emotion. Even more powerful than the emotional minefield that surrounded Bill Clinton when he reviewed his last batch of White House interns.

Politicians use envy to get votes and power. And they keep that power by promising the envious that the envied will be punished: “The rich will pay their fair share of taxes if I have anything to do with it.” The truth is that the top 10% of income earners in this country pays almost 50% of all income taxes collected. I shudder to think what these job producers would be paying if our tax system were any more “fair.”

You have heard, no doubt, that the rich get richer and the poor get poorer. Interestingly enough, our government’s own numbers show that many of the poor actually get richer, and that quite a few of the rich actually get poorer. But for the rich who do actually get richer, and the poor who remain poor .. there’s an explanation — a reason. The rich, you see, keep doing the things that make them rich; while the poor keep doing the things that make them poor.

Speaking of the poor, during your adult life you are going to hear an endless string of politicians bemoaning the plight of the poor. So, you need to know that under our government’s definition of “poor” you can have a $5 million net worth, a $300,000 home and a new $90,000 Mercedes, all completely paid for. You can also have a maid, cook, and valet, and a million in your checking account and you can still be officially defined by our government as “living in poverty.” Now there’s something you haven’t seen on the evening news.
How does the government pull this one off? Very simple, really. To determine whether or not some poor soul is “living in poverty,” the government measures one thing — just one thing. Income.

It doesn’t matter one bit how much you have, how much you own, how many cars you drive or how big they are, whether or not your pool is heated, whether you winter in Aspen and spend the summers in the Bahamas, or how much is in your savings account. It only matters how much income you claim in that particular year. This means that if you take a one-year leave of absence from your high-paying job and decide to live off the money in your savings and checking accounts while you write the next great American novel, the government says you are living in poverty.”

This isn’t exactly what you had in mind when you heard these gloomy statistics, is it? Do you need more convincing? Try this. The government’s own statistics show that people who are said to be “living in poverty” spend more than $1.50 for each dollar of income they claim. Something is a bit fishy here. Just remember all this the next time Charles Gibson tells you about some hideous new poverty statistics.

Why has the government concocted this phony poverty scam? Because the government needs an excuse to grow and to expand its social welfare programs, which translates into an expansion of its power. If the government can convince you, in all your compassion, that the number of “poor” is increasing, it will have all the excuse it needs to sway an electorate suffering from the advanced stages of Obsessive-Compulsive Compassion Disorder.

I’m about to be stoned by the faculty here. They’ve already changed their minds about that honorary degree I was going to get. That’s OK though. I still have my PhD. in Insensitivity from the Neal Boortz Institute for Insensitivity Training. I learned that, in short, sensitivity sucks. It’s a trap. Think about it – the truth knows no sensitivity. Life can be insensitive. Wallow too much in sensitivity and you’ll be unable to deal with life, or the truth, so get over it.

Now, before the Dean has me shackled and hauled off, I have a few random thoughts.

* You need to register to vote, unless you are on welfare. If you are living off the efforts of others, please do us the favor of sitting down and shutting up until you are on your own again.

* When you do vote, your votes for the House and the Senate are more important than your vote for President. The House controls the purse strings, so concentrate your awareness there.

* Liars cannot be trusted, even when the liar is the President of the country. If someone can’t deal honestly with you, send them packing.

* Don’t bow to the temptation to use the government as an instrument of plunder. If it is wrong for you to take money from someone else who earned it — to take their money by force for your own needs — then it is certainly just as wrong for you to demand that the government step forward and do this dirty work for you.

* Don’t look in other people’s pockets. You have no business there. What they earn is theirs. What you earn is yours. Keep it that way. Nobody owes you anything, except to respect your privacy and your rights, and leave you the hell alone.

* Speaking of earning, the revered 40-hour workweek is for losers. Forty hours should be considered the minimum, not the maximum. You don’t see highly successful people clocking out of the office every afternoon at five. The losers are the ones caught up in that afternoon rush hour. The winners drive home in the dark.

* Free speech is meant to protect unpopular speech. Popular speech, by definition, needs no protection.

* Finally (and aren’t you glad to hear that word), as Og Mandino wrote,
1. Proclaim your rarity. Each of you is a rare and unique human being.
2. Use wisely your power of choice.
3. Go the extra mile, drive home in the dark.
Oh, and put off buying a television set as long as you can. Now, if you have any idea at all what’s good for you, you will get out of here and never come back. Class dismissed”

Maybe there IS a Catholic vote - part 2

WHO PAYS?

With the upcoming Presidential election, I've been thinking of some themes that Conservatives should be expounding. Try this one:

WHO PAYS?

The Left appears to have their collective heads in the sand. They really are NOT clueless about the free enterprise system. Their allies in American major media are demonizing private enterprise and investment. Why? To bring down our economic system.

I don't want to pay for everyone's "fair share."  I want my fair share of taxes back from the government. The majority of people in this country are paying no taxes. They only want more of my "fair share."

Now, about those theme songs?

BUCHANAN TO OBAMA - A conversation about race

BUCHANAN TO OBAMA
This appears accurate. Blacks are 12.9% of our population, but comprise about 40% of the federal work force whose average salary is $78,000 per year as compared to the general population's annual salary of about $42,000 per year. It is odd that no one writes about this great disparity.

Harry W. Brandt, CPA
Finally............It is Said Publicly. I have never seen the white side explained better! Pat Buchanan had the guts to say it. It is about time.

BUCHANAN TO OBAMA
By Patrick J. Buchanan

Barack says we need to have a conversation about race in America .. Fair enough. But this time, it has to be a two-way conversation.. White America needs to be heard from, not just lectured to.... This time, the Silent Majority needs to have its convictions, grievances and demands heard. And among them are these:

First, America has been the best country on earth for black folks. It was here that 600,000 black people, brought from Africa in slave ships, grew into a community of 40 million, were introduced to Christian salvation, and reached the greatest levels of freedom and prosperity blacks have ever known.. Wright ought to go down on his knees and thank God he is an American.

Second, no people anywhere has done more to lift up blacks than white Americans. Untold trillions have been spent since the ' 60s on welfare, food stamps, rent supplements, Section 8 housing, Pell grants, student loans, legal services, Medicaid, Earned Income Tax Credits and poverty programs designed to bring the African-American community into the mainstream. Governments, businesses and colleges have engaged in discrimination against white folks -- with affirmative action, contract set-asides and quotas -- to advance black applicants over white applicants.Churches, foundations, civic groups, schools and individuals all over America have donated their time and money to support soup kitchens, adult education, day care, retirement and nursing homes for blacks.
We hear the grievances. Where is the gratitude??

Barack talks about new 'ladders of opportunity' for blacks. Let him go to Altoona ? And Johnstown , and ask the white kids in Catholic schools how many were visited lately by Ivy League recruiters handing out scholarships for 'deserving' white kids...? Is white America really responsible for the fact that the crime and incarceration rates for African-Americans are seven times those of white America ? Is it really white America 's fault that illegitimacy in the African-American community has hit 70 percent and the black dropout rate from high schools in some cities has reached 50 percent?

Is that the fault of white America or, first and foremost, a failure of the black community itself?

As for racism, its ugliest manifestation is in interracial crime, and especially interracial crimes of violence. Is Barack Obama aware that while white criminals choose black victims 3 percent of the time, black criminals choose white victims 45 percent of the time?

Is Barack aware that black-on-white rapes are 100 times more common than the reverse, that black-on-white robberies were 139 times as common in the first three years of this decade as the reverse?

We have all heard ad nauseam from the Rev. Al about Taiwan Brawly, the Duke rape case and Jena . And all turned out to be hoaxes. But about the epidemic of black assaults on whites that are real, we hear nothing.

Sorry, Barack, some of us have heard it all before, about 40 years and 40 trillion tax dollars ago. This needs to be passed around because, this is a message everyone needs to hear!!!
OK...........

Will you pass it on ? YES. I did but will you?
Because I'm for a better America.

Fifty Cents A Day

Have you seen UNICEF's latest? " Only .50 cents a day." We are shown images of children who are in need. They happen to be black children. Doesn't matter what color a child is if they are starving. Hunger knows no political/social boundaries.

I have empathy for the human condition in some matters. Children are innocent. There are no illegitimate children. There ARE, however, illegitimate parents. The U.S. and the world is full of 'em. However, I feel no responsibility for them.

It's unfortunate but just because someone is born doesn't mean we have to accept responsibility for them. Current political/social correctness would have us believe that we do. Sorry but I'm not buying it.

I have a niece who has five children from I don't know how many nameless fathers.  I love her dearly as she is family. I have no responsibility for her situation though. Because of her actions and decisions she is strapped with a life that costs everyone in many, many ways.

Sorry folks but my heartstrings are for the things that I love, not your crazy situations. I am not buying what you're trying to create in my mind with your commercials. Empathy for the children of the world, yes. Paying for them, no. Pay for your own children. You didn't pay for mine.

Cold hearted bastard, ain't I?

Have We Now Had Enough?

America has spoken. Although his genetic makeup shows he is more Arabic than African, nonetheless we demonstrated  that we could elect a "black" President. And that goes a long way from where we, as individuals and as a nation, have been. However, POTUS has proven to be inept.

His administration is divisive. Where do I begin? Suing American states (Arizona)? Pro-Gay Marriage? Waiting to have more"...flexibility" in dealing with the Russian Bear after he is re-elected?

"Let me count the ways..." Unfortunately, his ways are too numerous for this column.

His anti-Americanism has been lauded by a corrupt American media. People who have worked hard all their lives and perhaps accumulated a bit of "wealth" are now cast as evil.  Redistribution of income, right from the Communist playbook, is heralded. The "Rich" in this nation do no good for anybody.

I ask, would anything be done in this nation without a "profit" motive? Would young neighborhood boys cut your grass or shovel the snow from you sidewalk in return for only a smile? Would the American worker show up each day just to receive a "Thank you" on payday?

Rather than leading this nation towards economic recovery he has chosen to campaign for three and half years.

He continued his campaign this week by leading the American people - he appeared on The View.  Can you picture President Eisenhower doing this?

There's no doubt that America can, and will one day, elect another "African-American" President. The next time, however, they will have the experience of knowing what inept means and look past voting for one because of their color and look at the character and demonstrated ability of the candidate.

America, have you had enough already?

AN INVITATION TO POTUS

I note POTUS is planning a June 6 invite to a Gay, Lesbian and trans-sexual event with George Clooney and other Hollywood "Progressives."

In the event he needs an alternate invitation so he doesn't HAVE to attend the Hollywood gala,  I invite him to an Ohio flag-raising ceremony on the same date to commemorate the American and Allied  lives lost on June 6, 1944, D-Day.

YOUR SEXUAL LIFE IS ANYBODY'S BUSINESS?

Another smokescreen issue in the agenda of the American Left is their attempts to tell us if one is "gay" they have special rights. I, for one, am tired of this nonsense and the rest of the nonsense coming from their mouthpieces, ABC, CBS, NBC and NPR.

In an effort that panders to the political interests of the White House, their efforts are truly transparent. Beginning with VPOTUS, then followed by POTUS, they have announced to the world that they support "gay" marriage.

Without considering the moral issue of these lifestyles for the moment, why one's sexual life is anybody's public business eludes me. It's NOBODY'S business. I don't condone married men and women having affairs. I don't condone the "gay" lifestyle. However, unless another's actions affect me personally, I really don't give a damn about them.

In my younger years it was said that men, for example, who were "gay", had been "queered". Now I suppose, at this writing, that if the American Left is successful in protecting "gays", I won't be able to write anything about them without the threat of being sued on behalf of the Civil Rights of "gays".  And that, is unAmerican!

With that being said, the moral issue of these lifestyles remain, through Sullivan's Eye, paramount. We cannot have American society declaring the "gay" lifestyle to be one that is moral.

AN UPCOMING THREAT OF WORLD WAR III

I find it interesting that China's bastard child, North Korea, recently fired a missile. Its actions forced the United States to halt what was allegedly food aid to the nation. Why would they risk losing this aid?

Another development has been the been the recent bellowing of the Russian Bear. Their military is threatening war with the West over the construction of missile defense systems in eastern European nations that have requested the protection of NATO.

While North Korea is only engaging in their on-going idiocy, Russia, on the other hand, is new to the game of publicly threatening their neighbors and its allies. I am led to believe that perhaps a crisis will be crafted with the cooperation of Russia, North Korea and the current occupant of our very own White House.

Any such actions would fall into the hands of a President doomed to lose power, i.e., a President who will not relinquish power. Keep in mind that this administration, like communists throughout the world, would not go easily.

It would not surprise me that WWIII threats could be activated that would, on the surface at least, appear to be legitimate concerns. Additional fear would be created in the American leftist media and, by extension, the American people.  Leftists would take to the streets, such as in countries where communism/socialism rules. Afterall, like the "occupy" movement here, they all get a payday.

Would the American President then attempt to declare martial law? Once this was done he would ride in on his white horse and save the world for Internationalism. The current American administration will do what they want to do and don't care about freedom and the fact that we are a Republic. And our Congress and Judiciary will sit idly by.

Where is Congress? Where is the Judiciary?

Zoning the ocean
04/17/2012
President Barack Obama has an ambitious plan for Washington bureaucrats to take command of the oceans—and with it control over much of the nation’s energy, fisheries, even recreation in a move described by lawmakers as the ultimate power grab to zone the seas.

The massive undertaking also includes control over key inland waterways and rivers that reach hundreds of miles upstream, and began with little fanfare when Obama signed an executive order in 2010 to protect the aquatic environment.

“This one to me could be the sleeping power grab that Americans will wake up to one day and wonder what the heck hit them,” said Rep. Bill Flores (R –Texas).

“This is pure administrative fiat,” said Sen. David Vitter (R –La.). “It’s very troubling.”

“This is purely a unilateral administrative action with no real congressional input or oversight,” Vitter said. “I think it clearly threatens to have a big impact on a lot of industry, starting with energy, oil and gas, and fishing.”

But in his zeal to curb sea sprawl, lawmakers say the president’s executive order also gives Washington officialdom unprecedented reach to control land use as well.

“The order says they shall develop a scheme for oversight of oceans and all the sources thereof,” Flores said. “So you could have a snowflake land on Pikes Peak and ultimately it’s going to wind up in the water, so as a result they could regulate on every square inch of U.S. soil.”

Impacts on industry, consumers

The effects of Obama’s far-reaching policy would be felt by numerous industries including wind farms and other renewable energy undertakings, ports, shipping vessels, and other marine commerce, and upstream it would also affect mining, timber, even farming.

It will impact consumers directly through rules addressing recreational uses such as fishing and boating, and restricting the multiple use development of the ocean’s resources would also increase the cost of fuel and food, lawmakers say.

The idea to create a policy to oversee multiple uses of the ocean originated during the Bush administration, but after push back from within the ranks, including Vitter, the idea was dropped.

Critics of this revised plan say it is more narrowly focused, and that the Obama administration is taking their marching orders from environmental groups who want to move away from a multiple-use ocean policy to a no-use policy.

“If you look at the catalyst for the entire initiative, it comes from the playbook of environmental groups that think the ocean ought to be controlled by the federal government,” Flores said.

Added Vitter: “This (Obama) administration is more aggressive and left-leaning, and they are going whole hog. I think it’s clearly a threat, and in terms of negatively impacting jobs, it’s a very, very big threat.”

Blocking new oil, gas production

The ocean policy has already impacted oil and gas development in the Mid and South Atlantic, where more environmental analysis is now required to determine whether new studies must also be conducted to determine its safety, according to Interior Department Secretary Ken Salazar.

Jack Belcher, managing director of the Ocean Policy Coalition that represents numerous industries affected by Obama’s initiative including oil companies, says Salazar’s action is one example of how the administration is already blocking new production “on a policy that hasn’t even been developed yet.”

Still in its draft form, the plan released in January contains vague goals that call for more than 150 milestones to be accomplished by next year that will determine how the ecosystem is managed.

“Right now, we can only speculate on the impacts,” Belcher said. “But all of a sudden, there’s a new authority creating a new plan that may not allow oil and gas leasing or development in (some) areas.”

“But what we are worried about, and already seeing, is it’s being used as a tool to say we’re not going to do something, or delay it,” Belcher said. “It creates another layer of bureaucracy and another opportunity for litigation. We see this as an opportunity to tie things up in complete uncertainty.”

Belcher said his members are not opposed to having a process in place to manage all of the industries that depend on the ocean, but that they are already operating under numerous and sometimes onerous regulations that guide energy development, the shipping of goods, wind farm construction, and commercial fishing.

“It isn’t just chaos on the high seas, but this ocean policy takes the assumption that it is,” Belcher said. “We’re fearful that (Obama’s policy) will result in a more draconian system.”

The regulatory uncertainty created by the draft plan for industries and its employees that depend on the ocean has prompted numerous Republican senators to ask for congressional oversight hearings.

“In these tough economic times, it would be unfortunate if Congress chose to ignore responsibility for limiting bureaucratic hurdles to prosperity,” the lawmakers said in a March 20 letter. The letter was signed by Sens. Vitter, Marco Rubio of Florida, Mike Lee of Utah, John Barrasso of Wyoming, Jim DeMint of South Carolina, Jeff Sessions of Alabama, Roger Wicker of Mississippi, Mike Crapo of Idaho and John Cornyn of Texas.

The ocean policy has been a sleeper issue with very little media coverage, but now that it is starting to affect industries such as gas and oil production, lawmakers say congressional hearings are needed to take a broader look at its impact and consider public input from all of the stakeholders, not just environmentalists.

“This has largely been completely under the radar,” Vitter said. “And that is exactly the way the administration and their environmental allies want to do it—announce the administrative fiat is complete and that we have this new way of life that nobody knew was coming.”

House Republicans are fighting back by tightening the purse strings they control and hope that by cutting off funding to implement the policy, and putting a stop to officials they believe are siphoning money away from other programs, they can block it from going forward.

Rep. Hal Rogers (R -Ky.), who heads the powerful House Appropriations Committee, has been asked to put a stop to the administration’s “cloaked funding” by Rep. Doc Hastings (R–Wash.), chairman of the House Resources Committee.

“The Obama administration continues to move forward with zoning the oceans through implementation of the president’s National Ocean Policy without requesting funding specifically for this broad initiative and without answering basic questions about how funds are currently being diverted from other missions to fund this initiative,” Hastings said in an April 2 letter to Rogers.

Although critics of the plan say it will create an unprecedented aquatic zoning commission, the administration has repeatedly denied it.

Administration’s defense

Nancy Sutley, chair of the White House Council on Environmental Quality (CEQ) and co-chair of the newly created National Ocean Council in charge of the new policy, said the plan “has been mischaracterized as ‘ocean zoning.’”

“The National Ocean Policy does not create any new regulations,” added Jane Lubchenco, undersecretary of Commerce for oceans and atmosphere. “It is a planning process, it’s not zoning.”

Calls to CEQ, which oversees the policy, were not returned.

However, critics point to an Interior Department memo that says the plan “has emerged as a new paradigm and planning strategy for coordinating all marine and coastal activities and facility constructions within the context of a national zoning plan.”

Additionally, former Coast Guard Commandant Adm. Thad Allen, a member of the Ocean Policy Task Force, told OnEarth Magazine in May, 2010, the plan is “basically taking the notion of urban planning and putting it into the water column, as well as the estuary systems that connect it to everything that impacts ocean ecosystems.”

Rep. Don Young (R–Alaska) explained the new bureaucracy to his constituents during an April 3 Alaska field hearing as “a complicated bureaucratic scheme which includes a 27-member national ocean council; an 18-member governance coordinating committee; 10 national policies; nine regional planning bodies—each involving as many as 27 federal agencies as well as states and tribes; nine national priority objectives; nine strategic action plans; seven national goals for coastal marine spatial planning; and 12 guiding principles for coastal marine spatial planning.”

“Are you confused yet?” Young asked the crowd.

“The administration claims that this whole National Ocean Policy is nothing more than an attempt to coordinate federal agencies and make better permitting decisions,” Young said. “Forgive me if I am a little suspicious when the federal government—through an executive order—decides to create a new bureaucracy that will ‘help’ us plan where activities can or cannot take place in our waters and inland.”

Competing values

Environmental groups that support the president’s efforts include the Pew Charitable Trusts, which says that the fragile health of the oceans is being threatened by the increasing industrialization of the seas.

“If poorly planned or managed, drilling for oil and natural gas in federal waters, developing aquaculture and building wind, wave and tidal energy facilities all have the potential to damage America’s marine environment,” Pew said in a statement supporting the president’s policy.

But some believe bureaucratic interference on such a large scale is the real threat.

“The last thing we need is the federal government running the damn ocean and a bunch of bureaucrats running around trying to determine whether you can fish in one spot or another,” said Dan Kish, senior vice president for policy at the Institute for Energy Research.

The Leftist Agenda

On Jan. 10, 1963, Congressman Albert S. Herlong Jr. of Florida read a list of 45 Communist goals into the Congressional Record. The list was derived from researcher Cleon Skousen’s book “The Naked Communist.”
1. U.S. should accept coexistence as the only alternative to atomic war.
2. U.S. should be willing to capitulate in preference to engaging in atomic war.
3. Develop the illusion that total disarmament by the U.S. would be a demonstration of "moral strength."
4. Permit free trade between all nations regardless of Communist affiliation and regardless of whether or not items could be used for war.
5. Extend long-term loans to Russia and Soviet satellites.
6. Provide American aid to all nations regardless of Communist domination.
7. Grant recognition of Red China and admission of Red China to the U.N.
8. Set up East and West Germany as separate states in spite of Khrushchev's promise in 1955 to settle the Germany question by free elections under supervision of the U.N.
9. Prolong the conferences to ban atomic tests because the U.S. has agreed to suspend tests as long as negotiations are in progress.
10. Allow all Soviet satellites individual representation in the U.N.
11. Promote the U.N. as the only hope for mankind. If its charter is rewritten, demand that it be set up as a one-world government with its own independent armed forces.
12. Resist any attempt to outlaw the Communist Party.
13. Do away with loyalty oaths.
14. Continue giving Russia access to the U.S. Patent Office.
15. Capture one or both of the political parties in the U.S.
16. Use technical decisions of the courts to weaken basic American institutions, by claiming their activities violate civil rights.
17. Get control of the schools. Use them as transmission belts for Socialism and current Communist propaganda. Soften the curriculum. Get control of teachers associations. Put the party line in textbooks.
18. Gain control of all student newspapers.
19. Use student riots to foment public protests against programs or organizations that are under Communist attack.
20. Infiltrate the press. Get control of book review assignments, editorial writing, policy-making positions.
21. Gain control of key positions in radio, TV & motion pictures.
22. Continue discrediting American culture by degrading all form of artistic expression. An American Communist cell was told to "eliminate all good sculpture from parks and buildings," substituting shapeless, awkward and meaningless forms.
23. Control art critics and directors of art museums. "Our plan is to promote ugliness, repulsive, meaningless art."
24.Eliminate all laws governing obscenity by calling them "censorship" and a violation of free speech and free press.
25. Break down cultural standards of morality by promoting pornography and obscenity in books, magazines, motion pictures, radio and TV.
26. Present homosexuality, degeneracy and promiscuity as "normal, natural and healthy."
27. Infiltrate the churches and replace revealed religion with "social" religion. Discredit the Bible and emphasize the need for intellectual maturity, which does not need a "religious crutch."
28. Eliminate prayer or any phase of religious expression in the schools on the grounds that it violates the principle of "separation of church and state"
29. Discredit the American Constitution by calling it inadequate, old fashioned, out of step with modern needs, a hindrance to cooperation between nations on a worldwide basis.
30. Discredit the American founding fathers. Present them as selfish aristocrats who had no concern for the "common man."
31. Belittle all forms of American culture and discourage the teaching of American history on the ground that it was only a minor part of "the big picture." Give more emphasis to Russian history since the Communists took over.
32. Support any socialist movement to give centralized control over any part of the culture – education, social agencies, welfare programs, mental health clinics, etc.
33. Eliminate all laws or procedures which interfere with the operation of the Communist apparatus.
34. Eliminate the House Committee on Un-American Activities.
35. Discredit and eventually dismantle the FBI.
36. Infiltrate and gain control of more unions.
37. Infiltrate and gain control of big business.
38. Transfer some of the powers of arrest from the police to social agencies.. Treat all behavioral problems as psychiatric disorders which no one but psychiatrists can understand or treat.
39. Dominate the psychiatric profession and use mental health laws as a means of gaining coercive control over those who oppose communist goals.
40. Discredit the family as an institution. Encourage promiscuity and easy divorce.
41. Emphasize the need to raise children away from the negative influence of parents. Attribute prejudices, mental blocks and retarding of children to suppressive influence of parents.
42. Create the impression that violence and insurrection are legitimate aspects of the American tradition; that students and special interest groups should rise up and make a "united force" to solve economic, political or social problems.
43. Overthrow all colonial governments before native populations are ready for self-government.
44. Internationalize the Panama Canal.
45. Repeal the Connally Reservation so the U.S. cannot prevent the World Court from seizing jurisdiction over domestic problems. Give the World Court jurisdiction over domestic problems. Give the World Court jurisdiction over nations and individuals alike.

Harry Connick, Jr. and his shameful roots

I don't know if you saw the show titled "Finding your Roots with Henry Louis Gates, Jr." or not but it is another lesson on self-righteousness. Gates is the guy, if you recall, who was confronted entering his residence after dark. When the police busted him he was furious that he was a victim of racial profiling. Ever conscious of television moments, Barack Obama inserted himself into the fray and had a "beer summit" with Gates and the arresting police officer.

Watching the above-referenced television movie, I was amused to see the strings of Harry Connick, Jr. being yanked by Gates. He had Connick wishing he had been born black. When Gates revealed that Connick's great, great grandfather, Irish-born James M. Connick, had served three years with Co. 5 (Co. B?), Fifth Confederate Cavalry, Harry said "It's kind of shameful."

I'm not writing about this because of racial motives but from a perspective of family history. I had no relatives (to my knowledge) who served with the Confederacy le, although many Sullivans did. I'm just irked at the behaviour of Harry Connick in this interview. He's entitled to his opinion, of course, but Gates'  agenda was obvious.

How can anyone be "ashamed" of their family heritage? The motives of Southerners were varied as to why they served the Confederacy. Some did so, no doubt, to preserve the "peculiar institution." But I doubt if a guy who emigrated from Ireland only to work on the docks of Mobile, Alabama was fighting to preserve slavery. I would opine the pay being offered was a whole lot more than laboring on the docks.

Shame on you Harry Connick. You were a puppet in the hands of Mr. Gates.

Right-thinking American Women

In the 2012 Presidential election, the Democratic Party, aided and abetted by leftist American media, is portraying the GOP (read white men?) as anti-women. Do women who think for themselves believe this pandering trash talk?

If I recall American history correctly, it was right-thinking white men who gave (all) women the vote.

Who Separated Us?

Who was it who separated voters into groups? Hispanic-Americans? African-Americans? Female-Americans? Gay-Americans? They've done us wrong! It translates that I'll do something special for (coddle) you for your vote. Which also translates that I'll do nothing special for you if you're not in one of these groups. Un-American! And it's a divide and conquer political strategy.

I think more highly of the people in these groups who are striving for upward mobility. Why else do they still want to come to America?

I believe voters will do the right thing in November, 2012. Unless Obama attempts to disrupt the process. If he does I don't believe Congress has the guts to call him on it. The Supreme Court does though!

A Woman Who Lived Under Communism

"When you see that trading is done, not by consent, but by compulsion -- when you see that in order to produce, you need to obtain permission from men who produce nothing -- when you see money flowing to those who deal, not in goods, but in favors -- when you see that men get richer by graft and pull than by work, and your laws don’t protect you against them, but protect them against you -- when you see corruption being rewarded and honesty becoming a self-sacrifice -- you may know that your society is doomed ."            Ayn Rand (1905-1982) Author Source: Atlas Shrugged, p. 413

America and Russia - Comrades in ideology?

After Comrade Medvedev took the message from Comrade Obama back to Comrade Vladimir, I'm wondering what Comrade Vladimir's message from Moscow back to Comrade Obama is?

As a Public Policy Spokesman for the late President Reagan, I encouraged him to dialogue with Premier Gorbachev, believing that once inside the Russian camp we would know what they're doing and thinking. It didn't, however, include becoming one of them.

Here we go again!

Senator McCain, spokesman for the arms industry, today called for the U.S. to arm the opponents of President Assad. We are being fed propaganda via the major television networks. Russia is arming Syria and has been the arms supplier to Syria. Sorry folks but it's none of our business. We're supposedly winding down in Afghanistan, Iraq et al.....we need to get our guns involved elsewhere now don't we? It's BS! Pay attention to what's going here in the U.S. folks. Who was it that said "America First"?

Occupy Wall Street by Dr. Thomas Sewell

The current Occupy Wall Street movement is the best illustration to date of what President Barack Obama's America looks like. It is an America where the lawless, unaccomplished, ignorant and incompetent rule. It is an America where those who have sacrificed nothing pillage and destroy the lives of those who have sacrificed greatly. It is an America where history is rewritten to honor dictators, murderers and thieves. It is an
America where violence, racism, hatred, class warfare and of murder are all promoted as acceptable means of overturning the American civil society. It is an America where humans have been degraded to the level of animals: of defecating in public, having sex in public, devoid of basic hygiene. It is an America where the basic tenets of a civil society, including faith, family, a free press and individual rights, have been always rejected. It is an America where our founding documents have been now shredded and, with them, every person's guaranteed liberties. It is an America where, ultimately, great suffering will come to the American people, but the rulers like Obama, Michelle Obama, Harry Reid, Nancy Pelosi, Barney Frank, Chris Dodd, Joe Biden, Jesse Jackson, Louis Farrakhan, liberal college professors, union bosses and all other loyal liberal/Communist Party members will live in opulent splendor. It is the America that Obama and the Democrat Party have now created with all the willing assistance of the American media, Hollywood, unions, universities, the Communist Party of America, the Black Panthers and numerous anti-American foreign entities. Barack Obama has brought more destruction upon this country in three years than any other event in the history of our nation, but it is just the beginning of what he and his comrades are capable of. The Occupy Wall Street movement is just another step in their plan for the annihilation of America. "Socialism, in general, has a record of failure that's so blatant that only an intellectual could ignore or evade it." Dr. Thomas Sowell (A National Humanities Medal Winner)

The White Side of the Story of Negroes

The White Side of the Story of Negroes This is the reason CNN has dropped Buchanan. It's like Newt G. said the other night in the debate. You’re not supposed to bring up uncomfortable Facts. (Verified on Buchanan’s website) BUCHANAN TO OBAMA Finally. It is Said Publicly. I have never seen the white side explained better! Pat Buchanan had the guts to say it. It is about time. BUCHANAN TO OBAMA By Patrick J. Buchanan Barack says we need to have a conversation about race in America. Fair enough. But this time, it has to be a two-way conversation. White America needs to be heard from, not just lectured to. This time, the Silent Majority needs to have its convictions, grievances and demands heard. And among them are these: First, America has been the best country on earth for black folks. It was here that 600,000 black people, brought from Africa in slave ships, grew into a community of 40 million, were introduced to Christian salvation, and reached the greatest levels of freedom and prosperity blacks have ever known.. Jeremiah Wright ought to go down on his knees and thank God he is an American. Second, no people anywhere has done more to lift up blacks than white Americans. Untold trillions have been spent since the '60s on welfare, food stamps, rent supplements, Section 8 housing, Pell grants, student loans, legal services, Medicaid, Earned Income Tax Credits and poverty programs designed to bring the African-American community into the mainstream. Governments, businesses and colleges have engaged in discrimination against white folks -- with affirmative action, contract set-asides and quotas -- to advance black applicants over white applicants. Churches, foundations, civic groups, schools and individuals all over America have donated their time and money to support soup kitchens, adult education, day care, retirement and nursing homes for blacks. We hear the grievances. Where is the gratitude? Barack talks about new 'ladders of opportunity' for blacks. Let him go to Altoona? And Johnstown, and ask the white kids in Catholic schools how many were visited lately by Ivy League recruiters handing out scholarships for 'deserving' white kids. Is white America really responsible for the fact that the crime and incarceration rates for African-Americans are seven times those of white America? Is it really white America's fault that illegitimacy in the African-American community has hit 70 percent and the black dropout rate from high schools in some cities has reached 50 percent? Is that the fault of white America or, first and foremost, a failure of the black community itself? As for racism, its ugliest manifestation is in interracial crime, and especially interracial crimes of violence. Is Barack Obama aware that while white criminals choose black victims 3 percent of the time, black criminals choose white victims 45 percent of the time? Is Barack aware that black-on-white rapes are 100 times more common than the reverse, that black-on-white robberies were 139 times as common in the first three years of this decade as the reverse? We have all heard ad nauseam from the Rev. Al about Tawana Brawley, the Duke Rape case and Jena. OK, will you pass it on? YES. I did but will you? Because I'm for a better America I am NOT racist, NOT violent, Just NOT silent anymore.

SOME SPOKEN WORDS REMAIN TIMELESS

“Socialism is a philosophy of failure, the creed of ignorance, and the gospel of envy, its inherent virtue is the equal sharing of misery.” -- Winston Churchill These are possibly the 5 best sentences you'll ever read: Unfortunately, most voters don't know this. 1. You cannot legislate the poor into prosperity, by legislating the wealth out of prosperity. 2. What one person receives without working for, another person must work for without receiving. 3. The government cannot give to anybody anything that the government does not first take from somebody else. 4. You cannot multiply wealth by dividing it. 5. When half of the people get the idea that they do not have to work because the other half is going to take care of them; and when the other half gets the idea that it does no good to work, because somebody else is going to get what they work for, that is the beginning of the end of any nation. Alexis de Tocqueville A democracy cannot exist as a permanent form of government. It can only exist until the majority discovers it can vote itself largess out of the public treasury. After that, the majority always votes for the candidate promising the most benefits with the result the democracy collapses because of the loose fiscal policy ensuing, always to be followed by a dictatorship, then a monarchy. Or more succinctly from: Benjamin Franklin When the people find that they can vote themselves money, that will herald the end of the republic.

American ammo - A Hidden Agenda?

Like the recent backtracking over the issue of forcing Catholic insurers to provide abortion services, the Obama Administration was also forced to back down from the following. The question is, like the issue of Catholic insurers, WHY? I can only think they (the Left) is throwing up as much as they can to see what sticks on the ceiling to divide us and promote their hidden agenda.

AUTHOR UNKNOWN

This is totally crazy and it should make you want to slap the hell out of the idiots we have in Washington DC .

Georgia Arms is the 5th largest retailer of .223 Ammo in America . They sell 9mm, .45, .223 ammunition. They normally buy spent brass from the US Department of Defense. Spent brass is "one time used" shell cases used by our Military for training purposes. They buy the brass, recondition it, and then reload the brass for resale to Law Enforcement, Gun Clubs, Gun Shops, and stores like Wal-Mart.
They normally buy 30,000 lbs of spent brass at a time.

This week the DoD wrote a letter to the owner of Georgia Arms and informed him that
from now on the DoD will be destroying the spent brass, shredding it. It will no longer be available to the ammo makers, unless they buy it in a scrap shredded condition (which they have no use for).

The shredded brass is now going to be sold by the DoD to China as scrap metal, after the DoD pays for it to be shredded. The DoD is selling the brass to China for less money than the ammo makers have been paying, plus the DoD has to pay to have the brass shredded and do the accounting paperwork.

This sure helps the economy now doesn't it? Sell cheaper to China, and do not sell at all to a proven US business. Any hidden agenda working here? Obama going after the Firearms Industry and our ammunition!

The Georgia Arms owner even related a story that one of his competitors had already purchased a load of brass last week. The DoD contacted him this week and said they were sending someone over to make sure it was destroyed. Shell cases he had already bought! The brass has no value to the ammo maker if it is destroyed/shredded/melted.
The ammo manufacturer only uses the empty brass cases to reload different calibers, mainly .223 bullets.

The owner of Georgia Arms says that he will have to lay off at least half of his 60 workers, within 2-3 months if the DoD will no longer sell spent brass cases to the industry. Georgia Arms has 2-3 months of inventory to use, by summer they're out.

If the Reloading Industry has to purchase new manufacture brass cases, then the cost of ammunition will double or even triple, plus Obama wants to add a 500% tax on each shell.

You can read the information and see the DoD letter to Georgia Arms here:

LEGALIZE DRUGS?

Singer Tony Bennett is being second-guessed about remarks he made regarding the accidental death of another singer, Whitney Houston. I've got mixed feelings about the topic.

Our prisons are full of men and women whose lives have been ruined by the use of illegal drugs. They have turned to crime, murder, burglary and robbery to finance their habit, not to mention what the drugs do to their bodies and minds.

What if drugs of a known strength and quality were dispensed to such individuals BEFORE they committed these crimes? Would the result would be men and women who might possibly lead somewhat productive lives?

For one thing, if the quality of these drugs were consistent, and users were under a physician's treatment, perhaps we would not have these wrongful deaths. And you KNOW the crime rate would disappear.

Would the money we're spending now to imprison these people be better spent in putting people to work for non-government organizations and/or private enterprise? You know the answer.

I think it's worth a shot. One benefit to all this would be knowing who the drug users are. those who are currently semi-productive citizens would have to PAY their own way in the matter.

I know this is not the ideal but it's better than what we're doing now.

There's another side of me, however, that doesn't want "stoners" behind a steering wheel. Lord knows they could end up killing me or any of my loved ones while their mind is wandering while driving. Uh uh!

There's got to be a half way point somewhere. I believe that if drug trafficking was to be taken out from the underworld and into our control, we would fund our national debt.

ARAB LEAGUE WANTS U.N. TO CREATE AN ARMY

There was a time when the United Nations was a legitimate entity for world peace. They sent an international force of NATO nations to Korea. The U.S. was part of that force. NATO forces had 500,000 casualties. North Korea and its allies lost an estimated 1.6 million. Civilian casualties were in the millions. The United States suffered 33,746 dead.

In recent years, however, the entity has become politicized. What I mean is they don't necessarily do the right thing anymore. Small nations represented there vote in their own best interests, which are not necessarily those of the U.S.

Now another legitimate-sounding entity called "The Arab League" is calling for the U.N. to create a joint peacekeeping force to knock President Assad of Syria out of power. The problem I have is I don't believe any of 'em.

The so-called citizens that are being killed there probably are fighters sent from Iran, Afghanistan, Egypt et al. Syrian security forces are attempting to support the current government. U.S. major media would have us believe that President Assad is the bad guy here.

Does anybody really believe a democratic republic would be installed in place of Prsident Assad's regime? Anybody remember the Shah of Iran? He was our friend until Social Progressive Jimmy Carter became President. Iran was a stable nation till that happened.

Syria hasn't been what the U.S. would call a friend. But the nation has been stable up to this time. And they have the backing of China and Russia. Hello!

If you care to look ahead, what do you think will happen if other relatively stable nations in the region go the way of Iran. Saudi Arabia? Israel?

We would be drawn into it because of our allies there.

I've Been Thinking - and that's dangerous!

OK, let's talk about Syria. If I can believe the U.S. media, why that government is killing its citizens left and right. That government and their leaders should be taken out and shot. Right?

On the other hand, are all these supposed "civilians" being killed really civilians? Who's to say they're not fighters from Iran, Afghanistan, Egypt et al?

I'm for stability! If you look at history in, let's say Yugoslavia, Tito was their communist leader. While he was in power, there was stability in the nation. Muslims were living alongside Christians.

In Syria today....you tell me!

Where are the white guys?

As a young man I played basketball - the street variety. I was pretty good. As a high school freshman, Coach Carl Uhler tried to mold me into his vision. I was bumped up the JV team as a fershman but didn't fit into his pattern. Like the British General Montgomery, he was a set-piece guy. Here's the play, do it. That wasn't my style.

I was on two teams at the time but I didn't do justice to either. I spent most of my time on one and neglected the other. With my 'credentials' established, I observe college and professional basketball today and think, huh?

It seems that 90% of the guys playing college and professional basketball are black. Aren't there many white guys that can play college or professional basketball?

American white guys, not black guys, have given basketball to the world.

American white guys, not black guys, have given football to the world.

American white guys, not black or latin guys, have given baseball to the world.

What's wrong with this picture? Just wonderin' ya know.

Abbot & Costello - Who's on unemployed?

Author unknown.

Who's on unemployed? With Abbott & Costello

COSTELLO: I want to talk about the unemployment rate in America.

ABBOTT: Good Subject. Terrible Times. It's 9%.

COSTELLO: That many people are out of work?

ABBOTT: No, that's 16%.

COSTELLO: You just said 9%.

ABBOTT: 9% Unemployed.

COSTELLO: Right 9% out of work.

ABBOTT: No, that's 16%.

COSTELLO: Okay, so it's 16% unemployed.

ABBOTT: No, that's 9%...

COSTELLO: WAIT A MINUTE. Is it 9% or 16%?

ABBOTT: 9% are unemployed. 16% are out of work.

COSTELLO: IF you are out of work you are unemployed.

ABBOTT: No, you can't count the "Out of Work" as the unemployed. You have to look for work to be unemployed.

COSTELLO: BUT THEY ARE OUT OF WORK!!!

ABBOTT: No, you miss my point.

COSTELLO: What point?

ABBOTT: Someone who doesn't look for work, can't be counted with those who look for work. It wouldn't be fair.

COSTELLO: To who?

ABBOTT: The unemployed.

COSTELLO: But they are ALL out of work.

ABBOTT: No, the unemployed are actively looking for work... Those who are out of work stopped looking. They gave up. And, if you give up, you are no longer in the ranks of the unemployed.

COSTELLO: So if you're off the unemployment roles, that would count as less unemployment?

ABBOTT: Unemployment would go down. Absolutely!

COSTELLO: The unemployment just goes down because you don't look for work?

ABBOTT: Absolutely it goes down. That's how you get to 9%. Otherwise, it would be 16%. You don't want to read about 16% unemployment do ya?

COSTELLO: That would be frightening.

ABBOTT: Absolutely.

COSTELLO: Wait, I got a question for you. That means they're two ways to bring down the unemployment number?

ABBOTT: Two ways is correct.

COSTELLO: Unemployment can go down if someone gets a job?

ABBOTT: Correct.

COSTELLO: And unemployment can also go down if you stop looking for a job?

ABBOTT: Bingo.

COSTELLO: So there are two ways to bring unemployment down, and the easier of the two is to just stop looking for work.

ABBOTT: Now you're thinking like an economist.

COSTELLO: I don't even know what the hell I just said!

And now you know why Obama's unemployment figures are improving!

"Occupy...." fill in the blanks

I'm watching the crowds of people in places like Seattle, Syria, Egypt and not making any distinctions between. Now, tell me something.

Do the folks watching TV in those nations who see the violence of the "occupiers" here believe that America is on fire and ALL our citizens want a 'regime change' here?

On the other hand, do we here in America see the folks rioting in the streets over there believe the average working people there want 'regime change?'

Add our so-called credibility in the guise of the Department of State going to the United Nations and calling for 'regime change' in Syria, just like we did for Egypt.

Dare I say we're being fooled by our own government in sync with the mainstream media here and agenda of the International and American Left?

Dare I say we are aiding and abetting violence and instability over there?

Fill in the blanks - Egypt, Syria, Algeria....you get the picture.

Dhimmitude - what does it mean?

My fellow Americans, this bears watching. I checked it out at http://www.snopes.com/politics/medical/exemptions.asp.
JCS

DHIMMITUDE - WHAT DOES IT MEAN?
author unknown

Obama used it in the health care bill.

Now isn't this interesting? It is used in the health care law.

Dhimmitude -- I had never heard the word until now. Type it into Google and start reading. Pretty interesting. It's on page 107 of the healthcare bill. I looked this up on Google and yep, it exists..
It is a REAL word.

Word of the Day: Dhimmitude

Dhimmitude is the Muslim system of controlling non-Muslim populations conquered through jihad. Specifically, it is the TAXING of non-Muslims in exchange for tolerating their presence AND as a coercive means of converting conquered remnants to Islam.

ObamaCare allows the establishment of Dhimmitude and Sharia Muslim diktat in the United States . Muslims are specifically exempted from the government mandate to purchase insurance, and also from the penalty tax for being uninsured. Islam considers insurance to be "gambling", "risk-taking", and "usury" and is thus banned. Muslims are specifically granted exemption based on this.

How convenient. So I, as a Christian, will have crippling IRS liens placed against all of my assets, including real estate, cattle, and even accounts receivables, and will face hard prison time because I refuse to buy insurance or pay the penalty tax. Meanwhile, Louis Farrakhan will have no such penalty and will have 100% of his health needs paid for by the de-facto government insurance. Non-Muslims will be paying a tax to subsidize Muslims.

This is Dhimmitude.

I recommend sending this on to your contacts. American citizens truly need to know about it.

You can't make this stuff up.

In a bid to stem taxpayer losses for bad loans guaranteed by federal housing agencies Fanny Mae and Freddy Mac, Senator Bob Corker (R-Tenn.) proposed that borrowers be required to make a 5% down payment in order to qualify.

His proposal was rejected 57-42 on a party-line vote because, as Senator Chris Dodd (D-Conn) explained, "Passage of such a requirement would restrict home ownership to only those who can afford it."

Does this explain liberals to you?

I can't add anything to this.

"After America there is no place to go."

A good bit of this most of us know from our history books but there are some things written here I hadn't been aware of. A very bad time in history for those that lived in Europe just before and during WWII.

1938 Austria

This is a SCARY piece of HISTORY.
Read & perhaps learn something new from HISTORY and "CHANGE".

America truly is the Greatest Country in the World.

By: Kitty Werthmann

What I am about to tell you is something you've probably never heard or will ever read in history books.

I believe that I am an eyewitness to history. I cannot tell you that Hitler took Austria by tanks and guns; it would distort history. We elected him by a landslide - 98% of the vote. I've never read that in any American publications. Everyone thinks that Hitler just rolled in with his tanks and took Austria by force.

In 1938, Austria was in deep Depression. Nearly one-third of our workforce was unemployed. We had 25% inflation and 25% bank loan interest rates.

Farmers and business people were declaring bankruptcy daily. Young people were going from house to house begging for food. Not that they didn't want to work; there simply weren't any jobs. My mother was a Christian woman and believed in helping people in need. Every day we cooked a big kettle of soup and baked bread to feed those poor, hungry people - about 30 daily.

The Communist Party and the National Socialist Party were fighting each other. Blocks and blocks of cities like Vienna, Linz, and Graz, were destroyed. The people became desperate and petitioned the government to let them decide what kind of government they wanted.

We looked to our neighbor on the north, Germany, where Hitler had been in power since 1933. We had been told that they didn't have unemployment or crime, and they had a high standard of living. Nothing was ever said about persecution of any group -- Jewish or otherwise. We were led to believe that everyone was happy. We wanted the same way of life in Austria. We were promised that a vote for Hitler would mean the end of unemployment and help for the family. Hitler also said that businesses would be assisted, and farmers would get their farms back. Ninety-eight percent of the population voted to annex Austria to Germany and have Hitler for our ruler.

We were overjoyed, and for three days we danced in the streets and had candlelight parades. The new government opened up big field kitchens and everyone was fed.

After the election, German officials were appointed, and like a miracle, we suddenly had law and order. Three or four weeks later, everyone was employed. The government made sure that a lot of work was created through the Public Work Service.

Hitler decided we should have equal rights for women. Before this, it was a custom that married Austrian women did not work outside the home. An able-bodied husband would be looked down on if he couldn't support his family. Many women in the teaching profession were elated that they could retain the jobs they previously had been required to give up for marriage.

Hitler Targets Education - Eliminates Religious Instruction for Children:

Our education was nationalized. I attended a very good public school. The population was predominantly Catholic, so we had religion in our schools. The day we elected Hitler (March 13, 1938), I walked into my schoolroom to find the crucifix replaced by Hitler's picture hanging next to a Nazi flag. Our teacher, a very devout woman, stood up and told the class we wouldn't pray or have religion anymore. Instead, we sang "Deutschland, Deutschland, Uber Alles," and had physical education.

Sunday became National Youth Day with compulsory attendance. Parents were not pleased about the sudden change in curriculum. They were told that if they did not send us, they would receive a stiff letter of warning the first time. The second time they would be fined the equivalent of $300, and the third time they would be subject to jail. The first two hours consisted of political indoctrination. The rest of the day we had sports. As time went along, we loved it. Oh, we had so much fun and got our sports equipment free. We would go home and gleefully tell our parents about the wonderful time we had.

My mother was very unhappy. When the next term started, she took me out of public school and put me in a convent. I told her she couldn't do that and she told me that someday when I grew up, I would be grateful. There was a very good curriculum, but hardly any fun - no sports, and no political indoctrination. I hated it at first but felt I could tolerate it. Every once in a while, on holidays, I went home. I would go back to my old friends and ask what was going on and what they were doing. Their loose lifestyle was very alarming to me. They lived without religion. By that time unwed mothers were glorified for having a baby for Hitler. It seemed strange to me that our society changed so suddenly. As time went along, I realized what a great deed my mother did so that I wasn't exposed to that kind of humanistic philosophy.

Equal Rights Hits Home:

In 1939, the war started and a food bank was established. All food was rationed and could only be purchased using food stamps. At the same time, a full-employment law was passed which meant if you didn't work, you didn't get a ration card, and if you didn't have a card, you starved to death. Women who stayed home to raise their families didn't have any marketable skills and often had to take jobs more suited for men.

Soon after this, the draft was implemented. It was compulsory for young people, male and female, to give one year to the labor corps. During the day, the girls worked on the farms, and at night they returned to their barracks for military training just like the boys. They were trained to be anti-aircraft gunners and participated in the signal corps. After the labor corps, they were not discharged but were used in the front lines. When I go back to Austria to visit my family and friends, most of these women are emotional cripples because they just were not equipped to handle the horrors of combat. Three months before I turned 18, I was severely injured in an air raid attack. I nearly had a leg amputated, so I was spared having to go into the labor corps and into military service.

Hitler Restructured the Family Through Daycare:

When the mothers had to go out into the work force, the government immediately established child care centers. You could take your children ages 4 weeks to school age and leave them there around-the-clock, 7 days a week, under the total care of the government. The state raised a whole generation of children.. There were no motherly women to take care of the children, just people highly trained in child psychology. By this time, no one talked about equal rights. We knew we had been had.

Health Care and Small Business Suffer Under Government Controls:

Before Hitler, we had very good medical care. Many American doctors trained at the University of Vienna . After Hitler, health care was socialized, free for everyone. Doctors were salaried by the government. The problem was, since it was free, the people were going to the doctors for everything. When the good doctor arrived at his office at 8 a.m., 40 people were already waiting and, at the same time, the hospitals were full. If you needed elective surgery, you had to wait a year or two for your turn. There was no money for research as it was poured into socialized medicine. Research at the medical schools literally stopped, so the best doctors left Austria and emigrated to other countries.

As for healthcare, our tax rates went up to 80% of our income. Newlyweds immediately received a $1,000 loan from the government to establish a household. We had big programs for families. All day care and education were free. High schools were taken over by the government and college tuition was subsidized. Everyone was entitled to free handouts, such as food stamps, clothing, and housing.

We had another agency designed to monitor business. My brother-in-law owned a restaurant that had square tables. Government officials told him he had to replace them with round tables because people might bump themselves on the corners. Then they said he had to have additional bathroom facilities. It was just a small dairy business with a snack bar. He couldn't meet all the demands. Soon, he went out of business. If the government owned the large businesses and not many small ones existed, it could be in control.

We had consumer protection. We were told how to shop and what to buy. Free enterprise was essentially abolished. We had a planning agency specially designed for farmers. The agents would go to the farms, count the live-stock, then tell the farmers what to produce, and how to produce it.

"Mercy Killing" Redefined:

In 1944, I was a student teacher in a small village in the Alps. The villagers were surrounded by mountain passes which, in the winter, were closed off with snow, causing people to be isolated. So people intermarried and offspring were sometimes retarded. When I arrived, I was told there were 15 mentally retarded adults, but they were all useful and did good manual work. I knew one, named Vincent, very well. He was a janitor of the school. One day I looked out the window and saw Vincent and others getting into a van. I asked my superior where they were going. She said to an institution where the State Health Department would teach them a trade, and to read and write. The families were required to sign papers with a little clause that they could not visit for 6 months. They were told visits would interfere with the program and might cause homesickness.

As time passed, letters started to dribble back saying these people died a natural, merciful death. The villagers were not fooled. We suspected what was happening. Those people left in excellent physical health and all died within 6 months. We called this euthanasia.

The Final Steps - Gun Laws:

Next came gun registration. People were getting injured by guns. Hitler said that the real way to catch criminals (we still had a few) was by matching serial numbers on guns. Most citizens were law abiding and dutifully marched to the police station to register their firearms. Not long after-wards, the police said that it was best for everyone to turn in their guns. The authorities already knew who had them, so it was futile not to comply voluntarily.

No more freedom of speech. Anyone who said something against the government was taken away. We knew many people who were arrested, not only Jews, but also priests and ministers who spoke up.

Totalitarianism didn't come quickly, it took 5 years from 1938 until 1943, to realize full dictatorship in Austria. Had it happened overnight, my countrymen would have fought to the last breath. Instead, we had creeping gradualism. Now, our only weapons were broom handles. The whole idea sounds almost unbelievable that the state, little by little eroded our freedom.

After World War II, Russian troops occupied Austria. Women were raped, preteen to elderly. The press never wrote about this either. When the Soviets left in 1955, they took everything that they could, dismantling whole factories in the process. They sawed down whole orchards of fruit, and what they couldn't destroy, they burned. We called it The Burned Earth. Most of the population barricaded themselves in their houses. Women hid in their cellars for 6 weeks as the troops mobilized. Those who couldn't, paid the price. There is a monument in Vienna today, dedicated to those women who were massacred by the Russians. This is an eye witness account.

"It's true….those of us who sailed past the Statue of Liberty came to a country of unbelievable freedom and opportunity.

Kodak? Bankrupt? Too bad they're not the government.

Kodak, the huge, monster-sized comany in Rocheser, New York, has filed for bankruptcy. The name Kodak needs no explanation; we all know who they are. Bankrupt? Means they don't have any money. Right? Yes, they've got no money honey. Kodak? How?

Some would say, rightfully so, that Kodak didn't adapt to the digital age until too late. However, Kodak had the same corporate culture that has evolved in other American companies that got too big for their britches and didn't bother to stay "hungry." The Irish have a saying, "Hunger makes a good sauce." Other good examples of companies not remaining "hungry" are NCR Corp. and Ford Motor Co.

The NCR cash register was a wonder of mechanical engineering. It was the best in the world. They, like Kodak, developed a corporate culture out of their success. Wooden headedness evolved. After all, they were the best analog cash registers in the world and they knew it. In the process however, they began to lose the market share. They, too, didn't recognize the digital age. They kept cranking out wonderful analog cash registers. Unlike Kodak, however, they made the right moves for themselves in the nick of time.

NCR hired a Director of Engineering who was given the OK to chop the collective heads of people who were "hangers on." They were not near sighted nor were they far sighted. Let's just say they were neither sighted.

With the new engineering leader, into NCR came contract packaging designers, printed circuit board designers, computer programmers and systems analysts. Lo and behold, NCR came into the digital age before they had to close their "analog" doors.

If we go back a little further, Ford Motor Co. developed the same mentality. Only in their case, Henry Ford, as leader of his company, was the culprit with tunnel vision. He was the visionary who conceived the assembly line. Before that cars were individually made. Henry Ford made a great automobile. With the assembly line concept he brought down manufacturing costs that allowed the general public to finance or purchase a Ford. Henry's success was enormous.

Henry made an automobile that transported people. It was black and functional. THAT'S what people want. Cars of color? Are you kidding? People want transport; they could care less about whether their car is red or green or whatever. It's gonna remain BLACK. Well, as you can guess, while the competetion was making cars of color, Ford Motor was not. And, the company almost went down because they didn't read the tea lives and adapt.

There's a lesson to be learned here for American electorate and the most important election in our lifetime, the 2012 presidential election. I would opine that American government, like NCR, Ford Motor Co. and Kodak, has developed a fat cat corporate mentality. Unlike corporate America, however, our federal, state and local governments have had a way out.

Rather than filing bankruptcy, our governments simply borrow money from foreign governments, raise taxes, sell bonds and/or print paper money without anything to back it up, i.e., gold et al.

It really hasn't mattered which of our two American political party has been in control. Both have been deficit spending. However, the current federal administration has shown they are more reckless than former administrations. And what's so scary about them is they don't give a damn.

It's time for another American Revolution - via the ballot box.

"Coil of Rage" - author unknown

The character of any man is defined by how he treats his mother as the years pass .... need I say more about this person below other than there is no character, no integrity but there is a ton of attitude and arrogance that defines his shallow past and hollow future .... I rest my case..

I bought and read Obama's book, Audacity of Hope. It was difficult to read considering his attitude toward us and everything American. Let me add a phrase he uses to describe his attitude toward whites. He harbors a "COIL OF RAGE". His words not mine.

THIS IS OUR PRESIDENT -- HE'S RUNNING AGAIN, YOU KNOW! Is anyone out there awake?

Everyone of voting age should read these two books by him: Don't buy them, just get them from the library. From Dreams From My Father:

"I ceased to advertise my mother's race at the age of 12 or 13, when I began to suspect that by doing so I was ingratiating myself to whites."

"I found a solace in nursing a pervasive sense of grievance and animosity against my mother's race."

"There was something about her that made me wary, a little too sure of herself, maybe and white."

"It remained necessary to prove which side you were on, to show your loyalty to the black masses, to strike out and name names."

"I never emulate white men and brown men whose fates didn't speak to my own. It was into my father's image, the black man, son of Africa , that I'd packed all the attributes I sought in myself: the attributes of Martin and Malcolm, DuBois and Mandela."

And FINALLY ........... and most scary:

From Audacity of Hope:

"I will stand with the Muslims should the political winds shift in an ugly direction."

If you have never forwarded an e-mail, now is the time to do so!!! We have someone with this mentality running our GREAT nation! Keep your eye on him and don't blink. I don't care whether you are a Democrat, a Republican, a Conservative or a liberal, be aware of the attitude and character of this sitting President.

Prosperity? Many don't know what it means.

We are living in an age when we're all supposed to be the same. You know, equality, no child left behind, and all that stuff. Prosperity? What's that? Occupy Wall Street? Oh yeah, that's supposed to be us against the rich guys.

I'm not going to defend the big shots who take without any consideration for those who make it possible for them. Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac come to mind. They're bust yet their execs are eligible for enormous bonuses. What's wrong with this picture.

On the other hand, we have locales such as Hong Kong. Where's that and what do they have to do with us? For one thing, they're prosperous. And the young people of this nation of ours should begin to understand what prosperity is.

Leading up to World War II, during and after the war, the United States was the world's bank. Why? Because people who had any money at all wanted to put it where it was safe and would bring them a return on their investment. And the place to put their/our money was in the U.S. That's all changed now. Why? Let's look at Hong Kong, the "vatican of economic liberty."

The top individual and corporate income tax rates here in the U.S. are 35% on taxes on capital gains, dividends and profits on overseas investment. It also applies to when you die. How does this compare to a vibratant economy such as Hong Kong?

The top tax rate there is two fold: 17% minus deductions or 15% of gross incoome, which is lower. That's right, lower, not higher. Guess what else? No sales tax.

The current occupant of the White House and his minions in the media would have you believe that government spending is the way to prosperity. Creating government jobs is the way of the future. Don't believe it. Their so-called "Jobs Bill" is a scam. Should they be successful in raising the debt limit even more you know who will benefit. Their voter "base." Do you know who their base is?

Nobody will say it. It's like John the Baptist in the desert. Whoever says it gets their head cut off. Protected by free speech, dare I say, in my opinion, those who benefit are unions, blacks, radical feminists, leftists, communists, socialists, gays et al. Have I missed anyone here. Oh yes, left-leaning Democrats. In other words its a crafted attempt to make a majority out of minorities. And the fact that Obama is in the White House would tell me its worked.

I appeal to the youth of this nation and those of independent mind to use their wisdom and vote to begin the return of prosperity to everyone in the nation. And, yes, to those mentioned who are currently the Obama base. We must take a non-governmental path. Look to Hong Kong to see how America could be, how we once were.

Now that we're out of Iraq......

This week it was reported that 100 people were killed in what is being called an "organized massacre" in a Syrian village. My question is Who Are These People behind the violence against the Syrian government and where are they coming from?

American media is portraying the Syrian government as being the bad guy in all of it. I don't necessarily believe it. The so-called Arab League and the Obama White House would have us believe that Syrian President Assad is evil and "regime change" must come about there. I say, leave him fight his own battles. Afterall, now that we're out of Iraq, Syria, Lebanon and Jordan will now have Muslim fighters in their countries fighting their governments.

We might also consider praying for Christians in these nations.

"A Bright Shining Lie"

Before I give you my take on events, let me assure readers that I am 5th generation American, maternal and 3rd Generation paternal - all from Ireland. My family has served this nation in every war since the War Between the States. I served two years here and overseas in the U.S. Army and two years active reserve. I am honorably discharged. And over 200 of our surname we're at Valley Forge.

I grew up with Democratic roots before the party went Left. I took the bait, hook, line and sinker. I was a youngster when President Eisenhower said "beware the military-industrial complex" I later read it but didn't really understand exactly what he was talking about. Since then I've witnessed American involvement everywhere, e.g., Korea, Vietnam, Panama, Iraq, et al. I now have come to believe that the financial interests behind defense spending does NOT have the interests of America in mind. We're going to fund war somewhere else after our current wars are conducted. We have betrayed our doughboys of WWI who fought "the war to end all wars."

Oh, yes, I'm for a strong defense....but for here at home, not in Afghanistan, South America, Israel and everywhere else we can think of creating conflict or allegedly defending a country in the name of liberty, democracy and freedom. As the late LTC John Paul Vann had advanced in Neil Sheehan's book about him titled, "A Bright Shining Lie", we're being hoodwinked.

We're pulling out of Iraq but staying in Afghanistan. Afghanistan? What the hell are we doing there. We don't need them; they don't need us! Yet we're being told that we need to be there for the Afghan people. They're TRIBAL! Yet they would have us believe that we need to give them troops, guns and money. We're being hoodwinked.

The Irish diaspora throughout the world has a quote for the long overdue need for England to completely remove themselves from Ireland - 'TIME TO GO!' It now applies to our military presence everywhere but within our borders. If we can accomplish that, industry and investment will return. It can happen, as long as we don't allow ourselves to continue to be deceived by the foreign policy being crafted by our Department of State.
