KFC in China v KFC in the U.S.

Have your heard about the chicken safety concerns in China? The Chinese are now paying proper attention to mislabeled, ill-prepared and counterfeit products. KFC there is under attack by reports of poultry pumped up with excessive antibiotics.  It has damaged the growing popularity of KFC consumption in China.

I note that Shanghai regulators did not fine them nor take further action. Instead, KFC was asked to bolster its supply chain review procedures. A slap on the hand rather than a " We'll make you pay" scenario.

Can you imagine what would happen if this occurred in the U.S.? How many untold millions/billions would KFC be fined? Where would the money from the fines end up? Right in government pocketbooks.

Is it any wonder to those who pay attention why capital has flown the coop in the U.S.?
