Cleveland Plain Dealer columnist Mark Naymik asks why the credentials
of Republican senatorial candidate Josh Mandel’s military service matters (Mandel makes
military service key to his run, but why does it matter? 09/09/2012). Through
Sullivan’s eye it DOES matter.
While Mandel certainly brings many other talents to the
race, his Marine Corps service denotes discipline, character and obvious leadership
abilities. Additionally, because of his overseas service in Iraq, courage. It
also tells this veteran he is proud to be an American and a veteran. Senator
Brown, who he is opposing, cannot say the same things.
