IS SYRIA'S ASSAD AS BAD AS THEY SAY?

I see the U.S. major media reporting the violence in Syria as being the result of President Assad's violence against his own people. There's something wrong with this picture though.

It seems to me that the nation was somewhat at peace before the Egyptian government fell and the U.S. pulled out of combat in Iraq. Now the fighters from those battles are free to move into Syria. So, where was the violence in Syria before the Muslim Brotherhood brought their violence into the picture.

Syria's backer has been Russia. They will continue to back them. Russia has as much to lose to the Muslim Brotherhood as the United States does. In this instance we should be backing Russia, as long as they have no designs on the other oil-producing nations in the region.

I'm not buying that this is a popular uprising in Syria.
