The Plain Dealer, always denying they are Left, chose to print a piece today that is timed to support POTUS' State of the Union speech tonight. 1% of the word's population will soon have half of the world's wealth they said. Gee, doesn't that sound like we should all support his upcoming "Tax the Rich" scheme?
The seemingly hare-brained proposition will not fly with the new Congress of course. It is designed to set the stage for the Democrats in 2016.
What will be left unsaid is what the "rich" do with their money. Do they have piles of it stacked to the ceiling like Scrooge McDuck? Do they invest it and employ people? Research and Development? Rainy day funding to pay possible exorbitant fines to the government? Fill in your own blanks.
In my own humble world I'm one of the middle-class. Translated to 2014 America that means both a have- not and a have...but definitely not one of the so-called 1%. I am fortunate to have been raised here and grateful to those who made perilous journeys on sailing ships for a better life for themselves and their progeny. That's US...With the exception of those brought here against their will.
With those thoughts in mind, I won't be buying any of the nonsense that will be spewed tonight. One thing we won't hear from the Smiley Face tonight is how they will operate within a budget. No, they will tell us how right they are to seize more wealth from those who are guilty and give it to those who are not guilty.
